
A group of distinguished professionals and key stakeholders under the Ikorodu Division Human Resources Development Board (IDHRDB) is set to honour exceptional public school students, principals, and education figures in an upcoming event.
The occasion, known as the Ikorodu Division Education Stakeholders’ Summit, aims to recognize academic excellence and the contributions of teachers to the educational landscape within Ikorodu Division.
This highly anticipated event, scheduled for Thursday, October 10, 2024, at the Ikorodu Ultra-modern Town Hall, will feature a public lecture themed “Family Structure, Child Socialization, and Children Holistic Development.”
The lecture will be delivered by Prof Biodun Ogunyemi, a renowned academic from the Department of Sociological Education Studies at Lagos State University of Education (LASUED).
The discussion will focus on how family dynamics and socialization influence the holistic development of children, which is central to achieving long-term academic success.
According to Prince Adesegun Ogunlewe, the retired Lagos State Head of Service and Chairman of the Summit Planning Committee, the event will not only celebrate the educational achievements of students but will also recognize exemplary teachers and principals who have gone above and beyond in their service to the community.
Special recognition awards will also be presented to two eminent figures in the education sector: Emeritus Prof Chief Kunle Ade Wahab, a retired Professor of Building Technology & Estate Management from Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, and Dame Adunola Benson, founder of Ikorodu High School and Adunola Benson Private School.
These individuals have significantly contributed to the growth and development of education in the Ikorodu Division and will be honoured for their lifetime dedication to advancing academic standards.
The event will be chaired by Dr. Ganiyu Agbaje, a retired former director of the National Airspace Management Agency, with Mrs. Toke Benson-Awoyinka, the Lagos State Commissioner for Arts, Culture, and Tourism, serving as Co-Chairman.
The Summit is expected to be attended by royal fathers from Ikorodu Division and a host of other important dignitaries, making it a grand occasion to celebrate the bright minds and devoted educators of the community.
