His Royal Majesty, Oba Kabiru Adewale Shotobi, the Ayangbure of Ikorodu, officially commissioned the long-awaited Low-Cost Housing Estate road in Ikorodu North Local Council Development Area (LCDA) on the 8th of October, 2024.
This significant project, spearheaded by Bldr. Adeola Adebisi Banjo, Executive Chairman of Ikorodu North LCDA, marks a vital step in the council’s efforts to enhance local infrastructure and promote socio-economic development.
The newly upgraded road signals a transformative moment for the area, making it more attractive to both residents and investors.
The event was well-attended by community leaders, government officials, and eager residents, all witnessing the modernization of the area.
Among the distinguished guests were Ikorodu Federal Lawmaker, Rep. Babajimi Benson MHR; former Lagos State Deputy Governor, Prince Ogunleye Abiodun; Prince Wasiu Kunle Agoro, Executive Chairman of Imota LCDA; Dr. Muyideen Adeola Jokomba, Secretary of APC Lagos State; Bldr. Olusesan Daini, Chairman of Igbogbo/Baiyeku LCDA; and Hon. Sulaimon Kazeem Olarewaju, Chairman of Ikorodu West LCDA.
Before the commissioning, the council chairman, Bldr. Adeola Banjo, expressed deep appreciation for the support received from dignitaries and the community.
“I am truly grateful to see such strong support from my leaders and colleagues,” he began, reflecting on the estate’s long journey since its inception in 1980 under the Shagari-led federal government.
He highlighted the historical challenges the estate faced, particularly the poor road network that had previously deterred potential residents.
“This place was once avoided due to its isolation and lack of infrastructure,” Bldr. Banjo stated. With the estate’s commissioning, the area now enters a new phase of growth and opportunity.
He paid tribute to the late Oba Patrick Obafunwa and Oba Abdulrasheed Omotayo Shadirene of Ishoin, former estate residents, as well as Chief S. K. Olowu, whom he credited for inspiring local development.
Banjo detailed the estate’s development, starting with the construction of A-Line, its main road, followed by the expansion of AM Lane and Abiodun Ogunleye Road, connecting to Sagamu Road.
He emphasized the importance of focusing on his home community. “This is where I live, and it’s only right that I ensure its development after my public service,” he said, reaffirming his administration’s commitment to ongoing projects across the LCDA’s three zones: Lasunwo Zone, Agbala Ita Zone, and Kasolori Zone, which includes the newly commissioned road in the estate.
In closing, Bldr. Banjo expressed gratitude to community leaders, including Mr. and Mrs. Uyebo, CDA Chairman Engr. Akar, and Baba Akin Lisa, for their continued support. “Your belief in this project made today possible,” he affirmed.
Hon. Niyi Odugbesi, the Secretary to the Local Government (SLG), described the project as a symbol of progress and urged residents to preserve it through collective responsibility.
Similarly, Engr. Akar Ayodeji, Chairman of the Community Development Association (CDA) of Kasolori Estate, praised Bldr. Adeola Banjo’s leadership, noting the road’s positive impact on accessibility and overall living conditions.
The road project aligns with Ikorodu North LCDA’s broader agenda of sustainable development, aiming to improve infrastructure, security, and community welfare.
His Royal Majesty, Oba Kabiru Adewale Shotobi, the Ayangbure of Ikorodu Kingdom, lauded the Chairman’s dedication to community upliftment and called on residents to maintain the newly built infrastructure.
“This road is a reflection of our progress, and we must ensure its preservation for future generations,” Oba Shotobi said.
“With strong backing from both the local government and the community, this estate stands as a beacon of progress and shared vision for a brighter future,” Oba Shotobi added.
