The Lagos State Deputy Governor, Dr. Obafemi Hamzat commissioned the 1.6km Lambo Lasunwo Road in Ikorodu North Local Council Development Area (LCDA) on the 7th of October 2024.

The road, which was constructed by Ikorodu Federal Lawmaker, Rep. Babajimi Benson, MHR, was completed in just six months, following its flag-off on March 30, 2024.

The road project, located opposite the Lagos State University of Science and Technology (LASUSTECH), is the 15th road facilitated by Rep. Benson in Ikorodu North LCDA. It includes solar-powered street lights, further enhancing the area’s infrastructure.

The road project, which had been a lifeline for residents for over three decades, especially during the rainy season, was lauded by local leaders.

Hon. Adeola Adebisi Banjo, the Executive Chairman of Ikorodu North LCDA, highlighted the significance of the new road, praising Rep. Benson for his relentless efforts to improve infrastructure in the area.

He called on the community to continue supporting and praying for leaders like Rep. Benson, who prioritizes the people’s welfare.

HRM Oba Olukayode David Raji, the Eweye of Isiu, expressed his joy and gratitude for the road’s completion, describing it as one of the best days of his reign.

He offered prayers for Rep. Benson’s future political aspirations and commended the deputy governor for his leadership.

Rep. Babajimi Benson, in his remarks, emphasized the road’s potential to boost economic and educational development.

He urged landlords to keep rental costs affordable for students living in the vicinity, as the road’s improvement would inevitably attract more residents. He also thanked the community for their patience throughout the construction period.

Other notable figures, including former Lagos State Deputy Governor, Prince Abiodun Ogunleye, praised Rep. Benson for his consistent leadership and effective project execution.

Prince Adeniran Ogunbanwo, Chairman of the Ikorodu North LCDA Community Development Committee (CDC), also commended the road’s completion, adding that it would spur further development in the area.

In addition to the road project, community leaders used the occasion to request the construction of a polytechnic and a pedestrian bridge along the Shagamu-Ikorodu road to ensure the safety of students.

The deputy governor, during his remarks, acknowledged these requests and promised that the Lagos State Government would review them for future action.

Dr. Obafemi Hamzat announced that the Lagos State Government would build a secondary school for the community, a promise made in response to the appeals of community leaders.

The commitment comes after Mr. Sunday Olusanya, Chairman of the Joint Community Development Association (CDA), emphasized the need for a secondary school to serve the area’s growing student population.

He revealed that the community had already secured one hectare of land for the school but required government support to develop it.

“You have secured one hectare of land and the necessary documents? By God’s grace, we will make it happen. Dr. Hamzat assured, emphasizing the critical role of community involvement in advancing development projects.

“I am pleased that Dr. Agbaje, the Special Adviser to Governor Sanwo-Olu, is present. Please forward all requests to his office, and he will bring them to our executive meeting for further review.” Dr Hamzat asserted
