In a historic moment for Ikorodu Peculiar Lions Club, Lion Aminat Anike Sanusi NLCF was officially inaugurated as the first female president of the club on October 13th, 2024, during a grand investiture and fundraising ceremony held at Oshodi Arts Gallery.
The event, which drew a large gathering of dignitaries and notable figures in the Lionism community, marked a new chapter for the club and celebrated the rise of female leadership.
Lion Aminat, the third president of the club, made history as she became the first woman to hold the esteemed position.

In her acceptance speech, she expressed deep gratitude to God for His blessings, to her family for their unwavering support, and to her sponsor, Lion Tunde Okusanya NLCF, who mentored her throughout her journey in Lionism.
Lion Aminat outlined the club’s primary focus for the 2024/2025 service year, which centres on the eight Lions Global Service Projects.
These initiatives include feeding the hungry, diabetes awareness, sight and vision campaigns, environmental impact efforts, childhood cancer awareness, humanitarian contributions, youth empowerment, and disaster relief.
She proudly highlighted some of the club’s recent accomplishments, including feeding the hungry at Low-Cost Estate, Akasoleri, and donating essential supplies to mothers and children at Parafa Health Centre.
Lion Aminat also recognized the financial challenges involved in executing these vital community service projects, making a heartfelt appeal to those in attendance to contribute generously to the cause.

“We assure you that all funds donated will be judiciously utilized to positively impact the less privileged,” she pledged.

The District Governor congratulated Lion Aminat on her historic achievement and encouraged the club to continue striving for excellence in line with the year’s theme, “Excellence in Service.”
“Strive for excellence in every aspect of your service and never settle for mediocrity,” she urged.

The ceremony featured an inspiring guest lecture by PCC Lion Kola Oyekanmi NLCF, PJMF, who spoke on the importance of effective leadership in community service.
Drawing on his own experiences, he encouraged Lions to remain committed to their mission of humanitarian service and expressed confidence in Lion Aminat’s leadership abilities.
