
Mrs. Abolanle Adesina, wife of the Chairman of Ikorodu Local Government, was officially appointed as an ambassador for the Stop Tuberculosis (TB) campaign in Lagos State.
The appointment was made by the First Lady of Lagos State, Dr. (Mrs.) Claudiana Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu, during a distinguished ceremony at the Banquet Hall in Alausa, Lagos on the 8th of October 2024.
The event saw the inauguration of several key figures, including female local government chairpersons and the wives of local government chairmen, who were entrusted with the responsibility of leading the Stop TB campaign in their communities.
These women were recognized for their influence and commitment to public service, making them well-suited to champion this vital cause.
Mrs. Abolanle Adesina expressed her deep appreciation for being selected as a grassroots ambassador for Ikorodu Local Government.
In her role, she pledged to drive awareness about TB, educate the community on early detection, and collaborate with local leaders and health professionals to address the spread of tuberculosis.
“We are committed to intensifying efforts to make TB diagnosis and treatment more accessible, especially within underserved communities. Our goal is to build strong partnerships that will bring us closer to eliminating this disease and achieving a TB-free Lagos,” Mrs. Adesina declared.
The ceremony highlighted the united efforts of Lagos State leadership, community health advocates, and various stakeholders in tackling the TB epidemic.
First Lady Dr. (Mrs.) Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu commended the new ambassadors for taking on this critical role and stressed the importance of their contribution in the collective fight for a TB-free society.
Mrs. Abolanle Adesina concluded by expressing her gratitude to the First Lady and all the stakeholders involved for their relentless efforts in promoting public health, particularly in relation to early detection and the fight against tuberculosis.
She reaffirmed her dedication to the Stop TB initiative as Lagos State continues to prioritize the health and safety of its citizens.
