COVENANT UNIVERSITY BREAKS RECORD, PRODUCES 339 FIRST-CLASS GRADUATES AT 19TH CONVOCATION ~ INN Nigeria ☆

Covenant University, Ota, Ogun State, has once again proven its commitment to academic excellence by producing an unprecedented 339 First-Class graduates at its 19th Convocation Ceremony.

This remarkable achievement sets a new academic record, solidifying the university’s reputation as a leading institution in Nigeria and Africa.

The convocation, which saw a total of 1,607 students graduate, was a moment of pride for the university as it celebrated the outstanding accomplishments of its students. In addition to the 339 First-Class honors, 762 students graduated with Second-Class Upper honors, 330 with Second-Class Lower honors, 25 with Third-Class honors, and 151 students were awarded postgraduate degrees.

At the ceremony, the Chancellor and Chairman of the Board of Regents, Dr. David Oyedepo, emphasized the founding vision of Covenant University, which is to provide quality education rooted in Christian values.

He noted that the university was established to rescue young people from life-long crises by offering an alternative educational model based on integrity, discipline, and innovation.

Dr. Oyedepo also highlighted Covenant University’s rapid rise in academic stature since its inception, describing it as one of the most subscribed private universities in Nigeria. “Covenant University has consistently been an award-winning institution, and we are grateful to God for this continuous success,” he said.

He reiterated the university’s commitment to solving societal problems, particularly in character development among youths.

The Pro-Chancellor, Bishop David Abioye, in his speech titled ‘Necessity of Patience,’ urged the graduates to remain patient and steadfast as they embark on their next phase of life.

He reminded them that their time at the university had prepared them to become leaders and change-makers in society, and he encouraged them to use their knowledge and skills to provide solutions to the challenges facing their communities.

The Vice-Chancellor of Covenant University, Professor Abiodun H. Adebayo expressed immense pride in the achievements of the graduating students.

He praised the 339 First-Class graduates for their hard work, noting that their accomplishments reflect the university’s dedication to producing world-class professionals who are ready to tackle global challenges.

“These young men and women have demonstrated extraordinary dedication and intellectual prowess. Their First-Class degrees are not just a testament to their hard work but also to Covenant University’s unwavering commitment to producing global change-makers,” he said.

Among the graduates, Sanni Rilwan Oludamilere, a student of Industrial Mathematics, emerged as the Best Overall Graduate with a CGPA of 4.99, further emphasizing the academic rigor of the institution.

The success of this year’s graduates marks another chapter in Covenant University’s contribution to Nigeria’s educational narrative.

As the university continues to raise the bar in academic innovation, this historic convocation sends a powerful message to the global academic community — Nigerian universities are not just catching up, but leading in the race for academic excellence and innovation.
