IKORODU RESIDENTS PRAISE GOVERNOR SANWO-OLU FOR RURAL ELECTRIFICATION INITIATIVES ~ INN Nigeria ☆

Residents of Ikorodu have expressed immense gratitude to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu for his administration’s ongoing rural electrification projects, which have brought solar-powered streetlights to several communities.

The project, spearheaded by the Lagos State Government through the Office of Rural Development, has improved security and night-time visibility in rural areas, greatly enhancing residents’ quality of life.

Speaking to Ikorodu News Network (INN), one of the beneficiaries, Mrs. Otafuwa Opeyemi, a business owner and resident of Irebami Poromosan Estate, commended the government for the positive impact the new streetlights have had on her business.

“Thanks to the streetlights, I can now extend my business hours. Before, when the power went out, the entire area would be in total darkness. Now, I can work safely for longer periods,” she said, expressing her appreciation for the initiative.

Similarly, Adebayo Isiahq, another resident, voiced his gratitude for the government’s efforts, emphasizing how the streetlights have made a significant difference in the community.

In Ikorodu North, Mr. Donald Deedee Oke expressed excitement about the solar-powered streetlights, stating that the initiative has not only improved living conditions but has also strengthened the community’s support for the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

He mentioned that projects like these demonstrate the government’s commitment to rural development.

“This project has convinced many of us to stand firmly behind the APC Party because the government has shown it cares about the needs of rural communities,” Mr. Oke remarked.

Additionally, Mr. Fatai Adeniyi, another Ikorodu resident, highlighted the security benefits of the streetlights. According to him, the enhanced visibility at night will deter miscreants from causing trouble in the area.

“With these lights, our streets will be safer at night. Miscreants will think twice before coming here to cause problems,” he stated.

The residents’ responses reflect widespread satisfaction with Governor Sanwo-Olu’s administration, which continues to prioritize rural electrification as part of a broader strategy to improve infrastructure and services in underserved areas across Lagos State.

Dr. Nurudeen Yekinni Agbaje, the Special Adviser to the Lagos State Governor on Rural Development, stated that the initiative aims not only to illuminate communities but also to foster economic growth, enhance security, and improve overall living standards.

“Governor Sanwo-Olu’s rural electrification projects are a key part of his administration’s commitment to bridging the gap between urban and rural areas, ensuring that all Lagosians, regardless of their location, benefit from essential infrastructure development,” Dr. Agbaje asserted.
