The Lagos State Government, through the Office of Rural Development, has provided 15 solar-powered streetlights to Irebami Poromosan Community Development Association (CDA).

The initiative, aimed at improving security and infrastructure in rural areas, was warmly received by the residents of the community.

The streetlights, handed over to the CDA Chairman, Engineer M.A Quadri, were installed as part of the government’s ongoing efforts to extend the dividends of democracy to underserved areas.

The project is one of many spearheaded by the administration of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, reflecting its dedication to improving the standard of living for Lagosians in rural and semi-urban communities.

During the presentation, members of the community, including Mr. Akeem Olukono, Vice Chairman of the CDA; Mr. Tajudeen Taiwo, Treasurer of the CDA; and Mr. Olarewaju Ajayi, Social Secretary of the CDA, all expressed their appreciation for the government’s efforts.

Engineer M.A. Quadri, speaking on behalf of the residents, commended the government for its continued support, emphasizing that the solar-powered streetlights arrived at a critical time.

“This project is truly a game-changer for us. The lights will significantly enhance security in our area, especially at night,” he remarked.

Dr. Nurudeen Yekinni Agbaje, the Special Adviser to the Lagos State Governor on Rural Development, highlighted that Irebami Poromosan is just one of several communities benefiting from the government’s rural electrification initiatives.

He further listed other areas set to receive similar solar-powered streetlights, including Adeniyi Balogun Street in Epe Local Government Area (LGA), Arowojobe Estate in Mende, Kosofe LGA, New Haven CDA in Sagba Debo, Selewu in Igbogbo-Bayeku LCDA, and Lase Okunowo Street, Off La Yakubu Street in Epe LGA.

Agbaje reiterated the government’s commitment to ensuring that rural communities across Lagos enjoy improved infrastructure, which not only fosters development but also strengthens the state’s overall security network.

“We are working tirelessly to ensure that all areas in Lagos State, especially those in rural zones, experience the true dividends of democracy,” he stated.
