The Baale of Agbede Omolaiye community in Ikorodu North Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Alhaji (Chief) Balogun Agbaje, has expressed his heartfelt appreciation to Hon. Tokunbo Wahab, Lagos State Commissioner for Environment, and Olakunle Rotimi-Akodu, Special Adviser on Environment, for their dedicated efforts in tackling the community’s longstanding drainage and flooding issues.

During an official visit to Agbede Omolaiye on October 23, 2024, the Commissioner reassured the residents of the government’s firm commitment to resolving the challenges posed by inadequate drainage systems in the area.

Chief Agbaje explained that the high-level delegation’s visit reflects the government’s determination to address critical infrastructure gaps that have plagued rural communities like Agbede Omolaiye.

The Baale acknowledged the state government’s plans to construct proper drainage systems as a long-awaited intervention, which would not only mitigate the flooding risks but also improve the overall living conditions in the community.

“This intervention is a testament to the benefits of democratic governance,” Chief Agbaje said.

He added that this project aligns with the state government’s broader goal of enhancing infrastructure in rural areas, promoting sustainable development, and improving residents’ quality of life.

The visit by the commissioner and his team has brought renewed hope to the residents, as they look forward to the commencement of the drainage project, which is expected to alleviate the flood-related challenges that have affected homes and businesses in the community for years.
