AYANGBURE OF IKORODU COMMISSIONS REP. BENSON’S FACILITATED OLUNLA-ASOLO ROAD, USHERING IN NEW ERA OF DEVELOPMENT FOR IKORODU WEST LCDA ~ INN Nigeria ☆

Ikorodu West LCDA, October 26, 2024 – HRM Oba Kabiru Adewale Shotobi, the Ayangbure of Ikorodu Kingdom, formally commissioned the newly constructed Olunla-Asolo Road, a project facilitated by Ikorodu’s Federal Lawmaker, Rep. Babajimi Benson, MHR.

The new road, equipped with solar-powered streetlights, marks a transformative improvement for Ikorodu West Local Council Development Area (LCDA), promising substantial benefits to residents, businesses, and commuters alike.

Olunla-Asolo Road, previously in poor condition, now stands as a critical connection for nine communities within the LCDA.

The completion of the road is a milestone in Rep. Benson’s extensive infrastructure initiative, marking his 64th successful project across the Ikorodu Division and highlighting his dedication to advancing local development and improving essential infrastructure.

According to Rep. Benson, For years, residents of Olunla, Asolo faced daily hardships due to the road’s poor state, which impacted businesses, transportation, and safety.

He continued, “The transformation of this essential route brings renewed hope for community growth and a better quality of life.”

“This is yet another promise fulfilled to the good people of the Olunla-Asolo community in Ikorodu West, in recognition of their immense support during the last general elections,”

“No community will be left out as we strive to deliver the dividends of democracy to all,” asserted Rep. Benson.

Prior to commissioning the road, the Ayangbure of Ikorodu Kingdom, Oba Kabiru Adewale Shotobi, conveyed his gratitude for Rep. Benson’s commitment to the region’s welfare, highlighting how the road’s transformation has improved transportation and enhanced security for the residents.

He explained the profound positive changes the road brings, including increased economic opportunities and improved safety due to the solar-powered streetlights.

Alhaji Rasheed Adebola, the Joint CDA Chairman representing the Community Development and Landlord Association, also lauded Rep. Benson’s impact, describing the project as a monumental relief to the community.

Other groups, including the Road Transport Employers Association of Nigeria (RTEAN), expressed their gratitude, acknowledging the improvements in accessibility and infrastructure that directly benefit their operations and livelihood.

Expressing gratitude, the community leaders presented Rep. Benson with a horse, a traditional gesture, reflecting the region’s deep appreciation for his commitment.

Rep. Benson, who also serves as the Chairman of the House Committee on Defence, reaffirmed his commitment to the completion of the Agbede-Ita Oluwo link road by June 2025.

He called on the community to maintain patience as the federal and state governments tackled economic challenges, assuring residents of forthcoming efforts to alleviate hunger and improve welfare.

The commissioning event saw attendance from a host of notable personalities, including Oba Basiru Aremu, Sekumade of Ipakodo; former Deputy Governor of Lagos State, Prince Abiodun Ogunleye; Dr. Nurudeen Yekini Agbaje, Special Adviser on Rural Development to the Lagos State Governor; Hon. Sulaimon Kazeem Olanrewaju (SKO), the Executive Chairman of Ikorodu West LCDA, and other key stakeholders.

The improved road infrastructure is expected to draw in local businesses and investors, while the solar streetlights will enhance security, reducing risks for motorcyclists, tricycle operators, and motorists who rely on the road for their daily commute.
