Senator Mukhail Adetokunbo Abiru’s SAIL Innovation Lab has collaborated with Lagos State University of Science and Technology (LASUSTECH) to launch an intensive tech training program for students, initially targeting the College of Engineering and Technology.
The initiative was announced on Monday during the opening of the five-day tech boot camp and Tech Summit, themed “Dare to Dream,” held at LASUSTECH in Ikorodu, Lagos.
The SAIL Innovation Lab, based in Ikorodu, was established by Senator Mukhail Adetokunbo Abiru, FCA, and his wife, Mrs. Feyisola Abiru, through their SAIL Empowerment Foundation.
With a focus on human capital development, the lab provides Nigerian youth with free, high-quality training in digital and innovation skills needed for success in today’s dynamic global economy.
The lab offers an array of programs including Generative AI, Software Development, Data Science, Machine Learning, Product Design, and Blockchain Development, and has already impacted over 10,000 individuals.
Speaking to an audience of nearly 1,000 students, Senator Abiru underscored his dedication to youth empowerment and the importance of digital innovation in reshaping industries.
“You are the next generation of leaders, innovators, and creators who will harness the immense power of technology to solve pressing challenges, create new opportunities, and drive social and economic progress,” Abiru stated.
He expressed optimism that this partnership would prepare students to capitalize on opportunities in fields like AI, robotics, blockchain, IoT, big data, and virtual reality, which are increasingly influencing global industries.
Senator Abiru also emphasized the role of the SAIL Innovation Lab in closing the gap between aspiration and achievement for Nigerian youth.
“When I look at the challenges we face as a nation, I see tremendous opportunities—opportunities for young Nigerians to rise up and lead us into a new era of growth and prosperity,” he remarked.
“Our focus at SAIL is on the technologies that are shaping the future—AI, blockchain, data science, software development, digital marketing, game development, and more.”
As an added incentive, Senator Abiru announced that high-end laptops would be awarded to the top five participants in the boot camp, demonstrating his commitment to equipping LASUSTECH students with cutting-edge digital tools and resources.
The SAIL Innovation Lab-LASUSTECH partnership signifies a strategic move to empower Nigerian students with the skills and knowledge needed to succeed in a tech-driven global landscape, fostering a new generation of innovators and leaders.
