IKORODU LG CHAIRMAN HON. WASIU ADESINA SPLASHES ONE MILLION NAIRA TO LAGOS STATE SPELLING BEE CHAMPIONS, HONOURING ‘ONE DAY GOVERNOR, DEPUTY, AND SSG ~ INN Nigeria ☆

Hon. Wasiu Adesina, Executive Chairman of Ikorodu Local Government, has awarded a sum of one million naira to Abdulrahmon Abdulazeez, the “One Day Governor,” along with Oki Sewanu, the “One Day Deputy Governor,” and Saheed Alimot-Odere, the “One Day Secretary to the State Government.”

These young achievers earned their titles by excelling in the 20th edition of the Lagos State Spelling Bee Competition, an annual event aimed at fostering academic excellence and leadership skills among students.

The celebratory award was presented during a formal reception held at the Ikorodu Local Government Secretariat on the 28th of October 2024, where Adesina welcomed Abdulazeez, a student of Oriwu Senior Model College in Ikorodu.

He was accompanied by his fellow winners: Sewanu from Ansar-Ud-Deen Senior Grammar School in Badagry and Alimot-Odere from Jubilee Model Senior Grammar School, Coker Aguda

Hon. Adesina commended the students’ impressive achievements and emphasized the importance of such educational initiatives.

“These competitions are critical in nurturing the potential of our young minds,” he remarked.

“They are the next generation of leaders, and I am confident that with continued support and encouragement, they will achieve great things and lead us toward a brighter future.”

The Chairman’s financial contribution, he stated, is part of a broader commitment to invest in educational programs that empower students.

His gesture reinforces the council’s dedication to recognizing and supporting academic success as a foundation for future leadership.

The Spelling Bee Competition, which has been a tradition in Lagos for two decades, continues to inspire students across the state to strive for excellence in academics and develop a strong foundation for civic leadership.
