
Mrs. Olaide Lawal, a former information officer at Ikorodu Local Government, was honoured with a prestigious merit award in recognition of her exceptional performance and commitment during her tenure with the council on October 29, 2024.
The program was a dual-purpose ceremony held at the Council Secretariat Hall, highlighting the Council’s dedication to operational excellence and staff appreciation while underscoring the administration’s commitment to enhancing service delivery and fostering a supportive work environment.
During the event, the chairman presented new official vehicles to the management team and honoured departing staff members.
The award was presented by the Executive Chairman of Ikorodu Local Government, Hon. Wasiu Adesina, who commended Mrs. Lawal for her dedication and exemplary work, noting that she set a standard in the information department that should be emulated.
Hon. Adesina praised Mrs. Lawal for her reliability, initiative, and her proactive approach to her role, stating that her work left a lasting impact on the council’s operations.
He urged the current information department to adopt the standards she exemplified, emphasizing the importance of integrity, diligence, and accountability in public service.
In her acceptance speech, Mrs. Lawal expressed her gratitude for the award and extended her appreciation to Chairman Adesina for his supportive leadership.

Mrs. Lawal encouraged her successors in the information unit and future information officers to maintain diligence in their roles and prioritize accurate, impactful communication.
She advised them to practice patience and integrity in gathering credible information, which she emphasized as vital to the growth and progress of Ikorodu Local Government.
