Oshodi Arts Gallery in Ikorodu recently hosted a notable visit from Prince Ganny Awobajo, Chief Editor of Ikorodu News, alongside his cousin, Alhaji Dawodu Olowosago, a founding member of Ikorodu News, and Eromona Michael, Creative Director of Ikorodu News Network (INN), as they toured the evolving facility.

Dr. Oshodi Seyi Paul, CEO of Oshodi Arts Gallery, warmly welcomed the guests and provided them with exclusive insights into the gallery’s extensive expansion plans, aimed at transforming it into Africa’s largest centre for art collections.

During the tour, Dr. Oshodi shared his enthusiasm for the expansion and his pride in the gallery’s evolution.

He outlined the ambitious project’s objectives, emphasizing that the enhanced gallery will not only increase its collection capacity but will also become a key hub for African art, attracting artists, collectors, and enthusiasts from across the continent.

“Our vision is to honour Africa’s rich artistic heritage,” Dr. Oshodi stated.

“This expansion will provide a space where both emerging and established artists can showcase their works on an impressive scale.”

The expansion includes new spaces designed to enrich visitor experiences, including specialized exhibition halls, workshop studios, and interactive areas for public engagement.

Prince Ganny Awobajo and Alhaji Dawodu Olowosago commended the gallery’s initiative, noting its essential role in celebrating and preserving Nigerian and African art.

“This expansion enhances Ikorodu’s cultural scene while strengthening our community’s impact on the broader African art landscape,” Prince Ganny remarked.

Set for completion by 2025, the expanded Oshodi Arts Gallery aims to make Ikorodu a prominent destination for African art and cultural tourism.

This aligns with Dr. Oshodi’s vision to establish the gallery as an iconic institution that connects African artistic heritage with the global community.

“This achievement highlights Ikorodu’s growing influence within Nigeria’s arts and culture sectors,” Prince Ganny added.
