
With an air of grandeur and dedication, the Igbogbo Platinum Lions Club began a new chapter on November 3, 2024, welcoming its 14th Lion President.
The event, held at the distinguished Ai_Royal Event Center in the Aga area of Ikorodu, attracted a diverse gathering of community leaders, dignitaries, and club members who celebrated the club’s achievements and rallied around the ambitious new goals set for the upcoming Lions year.
This installation marked a pivotal moment for the Igbogbo Platinum Lions Club, as the newly sworn-in leadership affirmed its commitment to impactful community service.
The new administration presented its bold vision to advance health, education, and environmental sustainability, aligning with Lions Club International’s Global Service Framework.
This framework focuses on initiatives that deliver immediate assistance while supporting sustainable growth and empowerment in underserved communities.
Distinguished guests included His Royal Majesty Oba Semiudeen Orimadegun Kasali, the Adeboruwa of Igbogbo Kingdom; Bldr. Sesan Daini, Executive Chairman of Igbogbo/Baiyeku LCDA; Mr. Olalekan Ahmed Ogunbanjo; Lion (Alhaji) Olukayode Oshinuga; Alhaja Ramota Azeez; Mr. Shomiyekan Okikiola; and Lion Folashade Shotomide PMJF, NLCF, the District Governor for the 2024/2025 Lions year.
Representatives from the Igbogbo/Baiyeku Council, the Adeboruwa in Council, along with family and friends, filled the venue, creating an atmosphere of solidarity and support for the club’s mission.
In his farewell address, outgoing President Lion Ogunjimi Temidayo NLCF reflected on a rewarding year of service, expressing his gratitude for the club’s unwavering support.
Under his leadership, the club fulfilled its ambitious 10-point agenda, with numerous projects leaving a positive mark on the community.
“Our work this past year has been both challenging and fulfilling. Together, we reached our goals and made a tangible difference in our community,” said Lion Ogunjimi, who commended incoming President Lion Princess Basirat Adetutu Banjoko, expressing his confidence in her abilities to lead.
Newly appointed President Lion Princess Basirat Adetutu Banjoko took the stage with an impassioned acceptance speech, conveying a deep sense of responsibility and a pledge to elevate the club’s humanitarian initiatives.
“It is time. We’ve been serving; I’ve been serving, but now I’m called upon to lead. This role is an opportunity to raise humanity to new heights, to serve with purpose, and to give back to society,” she said with conviction, emphasizing her commitment to the Lions Club’s humanitarian mission.
Lion President Banjoko shared her visionary agenda for the 2024/2025 Lions year, detailing core initiatives aimed at addressing critical needs within the community.
A key project will focus on constructing sanitation facilities in local schools to foster health and hygiene among young students.
Additionally, the club plans to empower 2,000 young people by providing startup kits to 200 beneficiaries, equipping them with essential tools to launch their careers and drive local economic development.
Expressing appreciation for her fellow club members, Banjoko, urged them to support her vision.
“To my club members, I am deeply thankful. They have been wonderful and supportive. Now, I call on them once more. I urge them to rally around me as we embark on each new project. I wish them well and am confident this term will add another successful chapter to our legacy.”
