To advance rural electrification efforts, the Lagos State Government, led by Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has allocated new transformers to communities across the state.
Led by the Office of Rural Development, this initiative, launched in the second quarter of 2024, aims to enhance power supply stability and promote socio-economic growth in underserved areas.
Dr. Agbaje outlined the plan, which includes the distribution of 300KVA transformers at various locations in Ikorodu, Badagry, and surrounding communities in the month of November 2024.
These areas are expected to benefit from increased electrical capacity and more stable voltage, supporting both residential and small-scale industrial operations.
The transformers are designated for installation in the following locations:
Ojomo CDA, Ikosi-Isheri LCDA – 300KVA/11KV; Elenuwa CDA, Igbogbo Bayeku – 300KVA/33KV; Harmony CDA, Ikorodu LGA – 300KVA; Lugbusi Descendants CDA, Ikorodu LGA – 300KVA/33KV; Amazing Estate CDA, Ijede, Ikorodu LGA – 300KVA/11KV and Ilogbo-Eremi Kingdom CDA, Badagry LGA – 300KVA/33KV.
This rural electrification project, managed by the Office of Rural Development, aligns with the state’s broader mission to bridge infrastructure gaps and improve quality of life in rural communities.
Speaking on the initiative, Dr. Agbaje highlighted the importance of a consistent power supply in empowering residents, spurring economic activity, and fostering sustainable development.
“Our objective with these installations goes beyond just providing electricity; we aim to empower residents and support their entrepreneurial efforts,” said Dr. Agbaje.
“This initiative, championed by Governor Sanwo-Olu’s administration, demonstrates our commitment to equitable development across Lagos State, ensuring that no community is overlooked.”
The transformer distribution is set to commence soon, with technical teams prepared to address any specific requirements of each community during the allocation process.
