AJOMO COMMUNITY RECEIVES TRANSFORMER THROUGH LAGOS STATE’S  RURAL ELECTRIFICATION INITIATIVE, URGES GOVERNMENT TO EXPEDITE ENERGIZATION PROCESS ~ INN Nigeria ☆

As part of the Lagos State Rural Electrification Initiative, the Ajomo community in Ikosi-Isheri LCDA received a high-powered transformer on the evening of November 6, 2024, highlighting the state’s continued efforts to enhance power supply in rural areas.

The transformer, which is expected to improve the community’s access to stable electricity, is part of the state government’s comprehensive rural development plan launched earlier this year.

Baale of Ajomo, Asubiaro Shamsideen Adewale, expressed his gratitude to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, acknowledging the Governor’s commitment to the community’s welfare.

“What Governor Sanwo-Olu has done for Ajomo demonstrates his deep love for our people,” Baale Asubiaro remarked, adding, “His track record speaks volumes, and this transformer is further proof of his dedication to community development.”

Ikosi-Isheri Community Development Committee (CDC) Chairman, Chief Adekoya Adesina, extended his appreciation as well.

Chief Adekoya shared that Ajomo won the transformer as a result of his participation in a puzzle game hosted during the Lagos State Community Development Advisory Council’s monthly meetings at Alausa, an event regularly presided over by Dr. Nurudeen Yekinni Agbaje, Special Adviser to the Lagos State Governor on Rural Development.

“This transformer is a fulfilled promise from the state government,” Chief Adekoya noted, underscoring the state’s commitment to community needs.

Mr. Olabode Ariwayo, the Chairman of the Ajomo Community Development Association (CDA), echoed these sentiments, lauding both the Governor and Dr. Agbaje for their sustained support and for ensuring the transformer was successfully delivered.

Mr. Ariwayo emphasized the importance of quickly energizing the transformer to bring immediate benefits to the residents.

Dr. Nurudeen Yekinni Agbaje, who oversees the rural electrification project, explained that the initiative, which commenced in the second quarter of 2024, aims to bring sustainable electricity to underserved areas across Lagos.

According to Dr. Agbaje, the program is deploying both transformers and solar-powered streetlights, and more communities are expected to benefit as the year draws to a close.

“The Lagos State Government’s continued investment in rural infrastructure will lead to better living standards and economic opportunities for all,” Dr Agbaje said
