REP. BENSON LAUNCHES LONG-AWAITED RECONSTRUCTION OF ADAMO-ARARO ROAD IN IKORODU NORTH AFTER DECADES OF DETERIORATION ~ INN Nigeria ☆

Ikorodu North Local Council Development Area (LCDA) marked a significant milestone in its infrastructure journey on November 7, 2024, with the official launch of the Adamo-Araromi road construction, led by Ikorodu Federal Lawmaker, Rep. Babajimi Benson, MHR.

Renowned for his dedication to enhancing infrastructure across the Ikorodu Division, Rep. Benson played a pivotal role in securing the resources and approvals needed to bring this long-overdue project, awaited for over 30 years, to life.

The flagoff drew a diverse assembly of dignitaries, traditional leaders, and community representatives, underscoring the project’s significance to Ikorodu North residents.

Among the notable attendees were Prince Adeniran Ogunbanwo, Chairman of the Community Development Committee (CDC) in Ikorodu North LCDA; Hon. Ogunbela, former Chairman of Ikorodu North LCDA; several Baales (local chiefs); and representatives from various Community Development Associations (CDAs).

His Royal Majesty, Oba Olukayode David Raji, the Eweye of Isiwu, officiated the event, signalling the start of a transformative project to revitalize a road that has been in disrepair for more than 30 years.

Mayor Deen Sanwo-Ola, Director General of the iCare Foundation, represented Rep. Babajimi Benson emphasized the strategic importance of the Adamo-Araromi road.

Sanwo-Ola noted that the road serves as a vital artery connecting around 40 communities within Ikorodu North.

He assured residents that the construction is slated for completion within three months, promising long-awaited relief and enhanced connectivity for the surrounding areas.

“This project was only made possible through the joint efforts of our leaders and community representatives who worked tirelessly to ensure the road’s construction,” Sanwo-Ola stated, acknowledging the collaborative contributions of councilors, traditional leaders, and CDAs.

Beyond the road project, Sanwo-Ola announced additional plans to support local educational infrastructure.

He pledged that Rep. Benson would facilitate the construction of an additional classroom block for Gbaga Secondary School, providing a more accommodating learning environment for the community’s growing student population.

Acknowledging the federal lawmaker’s efforts, Bldr. Adeola Adebisi Banjo, Executive Chairman of Ikorodu North LCDA, conveyed profound gratitude to Rep. Benson for his instrumental role in bringing this vital project to life.

He highlighted that the road’s reconstruction was long overdue, given that it had not been rehabilitated in over three decades.

“This road project is a significant undertaking that we truly appreciate,” Banjo remarked.

“Rep. Benson has been instrumental in securing this development for our area, and we are immensely grateful for his dedication to Ikorodu North.”

He also called on community members to actively support the contractors, stressing the importance of collective cooperation to ensure the project’s timely and effective completion.

Banjo further noted that the LCDA has seen other infrastructural improvements, such as the recent establishment of Gbaga Junior School, which has brought educational opportunities closer to local families.

Prince Adeniran Ogunbanwo, Chairman of the CDC for Ikorodu North LCDA, addressed the audience, urging residents to fully support the contractors, JB Construction Company, as they work to complete the project.

He praised the company’s professionalism and highlighted the positive impact the improved road will have on mobility and access within the community.

“Rep. Benson is doing a lot in Ikorodu Division, and our community here in Ikorodu North has been a major beneficiary of their efforts,” he said.

He further noted that the Adamo-Araromi road is a crucial link between two wards within Ikorodu North, fostering greater unity and accessibility for residents.

Prince Ogunbanwo also commended the local councilors for their support and commitment to this development, urging residents to show their appreciation by cooperating with the contractors throughout the project.

Before the official flag-off, HRM Oba Olukayode David Raji commended Rep. Benson for his commitment to advancing infrastructure in Ikorodu North, emphasizing the positive impact this road would have on both residents and businesses in the area.

He noted that improving access and connectivity is essential for sustainable community growth, adding that the road project marks a new era for the residents of Adamo and Araromi.

“Upon completion, the Adamo-Araromi road project is expected to greatly enhance transportation, facilitate trade, and improve safety for residents who have faced difficulties with the road’s poor condition for decades.”

“This development is seen as a major boost for Ikorodu North LCDA, positioning it as a more vibrant and accessible area within Lagos State,” Oba Olukayode shared.
