The 2025 Budget Stakeholders Meeting for Ijede Local Council Development Area (LCDA) was held on November 14, 2024, across all four wards, providing a platform for residents and leaders to review 2024’s achievements and shape the upcoming fiscal year.
Hosted at locations including Egbin Town Hall (Ward A), the Reading Room on Palace Road (Ward B), Ijede Town Hall (Ward C), and multiple communities in Ward D, the meeting was a vital opportunity for direct dialogue between the council and the people.
The Executive Chairman, Hon. Motunrayo Gbadebo-Alogba was represented by the Vice Chairman, Hon. Femi Kabir, at Ward C.
He delivered the Chairman’s message of appreciation for the privilege to serve and reaffirmed the commitment to the growth and well-being of Ijede.
“The importance of Budget Stakeholders can not be overstated,” Hon. Gbadebo-Alogba noted, describing how these meetings connect community input with governmental priorities and allow citizens to influence the annual budget process.
The vice chairman emphasized that prudent financial management has enabled the council to complete various projects without incurring significant debt.
“Our administration achieved a 103% capital budget performance as of June 2024,” he said, pointing to this as evidence of effective stewardship and commitment to responsible financial practices.
The LCDA’s development agenda addresses education, healthcare, cultural preservation, and infrastructure, with completed projects in 2024 that include the provision of vehicles for political and council officials; grading and stabilization of Lupeju Oko-Ope Road; repair of the carport at Oke Eletu Primary Health Centre.
Construction of a four-unit borehole water system for Ijede communities; provision and installation of medical equipment and ambulance kits; rehabilitation of Ijede Library; construction of a staff clinic and canteen for council workers; tiling of Ijede Town Hall; repairs to Falilat Ajoke Road and Mayflower Road.
Construction of classrooms for the Igbe Ogunro Community; provision of a staff bus for council workers; rehabilitation of Ikorodu/Ijede Road; distribution of books and uniforms to primary school pupils; and installation of street lights and lawn mowers for schools.
Hon. Gbadebo-Alogba called on residents to support the council’s efforts by paying taxes and rates promptly, underscoring that internally generated revenue (IGR) is essential for sustained development.
“Timely payment of taxes will enable us to implement the budget effectively and respond to the needs of our communities,” the Vice Chairman affirmed.
The meeting concluded with an interactive session where attendees shared suggestions and ideas, providing valuable input for the 2025 budget.
The chairman’s message highlighted optimism for continued collaboration between the council and the community to ensure responsive and accountable governance in Ijede LCDA.
