
In preparation for the 2024 Annual Community Day celebration, Dr. Nurudeen Yekinni Agbaje, Special Adviser to the Lagos State Governor on Rural Development, along with Mrs. Kikelomo Bolarinwa, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Local Government Chieftaincy Affairs and the Office of Rural Development, led a Jumaat prayer session on November 15, 2024.
Held at the Lagos Secretariat Community Central Mosque in Alausa, Ikeja, the prayer session was attended by ministry staff, members of the Lagos State Community Development Advisory Council (LSCDAC), and representatives from various Community Development Associations (CDAs).
The prayer session aimed to give thanks and seek God’s guidance for a successful Community Day event on November 21, 2024.
Speaking with the press, Dr. Agbaje highlighted the importance of entrusting the celebration to God for its success.
“As we approach Community Day, it is only fitting to present the entire event to God. With His guidance, we are confident the program will be successful,” Dr. Agbaje remarked.
Also in attendance was Alhaji Amusat Azeez Aremu, Chairman of the LSCDAC, alongside other CDA leaders, underscoring the collective unity and commitment of the community.
Dr. Agbaje continued, “Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has been a strong supporter of the Annual Community Day, recognizing it as a key platform to honour CDAs for their role in advancing the T.H.E.M.E.S Plus Agenda.”
“This event showcases the self-help projects and community initiatives of CDAs across Lagos, reflecting their contribution to building a modern, progressive economy in line with the governor’s vision.”
“The 2024 Annual Community Day is set to honour the dedication and partnership between CDAs and the state government, celebrating their efforts to address community needs and promote development across Lagos State,” Dr Agbaje added.
The Young Muslim Association of Nigeria also participated in the prayer session.
