DEPUTY GOVERNOR HAMZAT, HONOURED AT 33RD IKORODU OGA DAY CELEBRATION, DR. AGBAJE COMMENDS LEADERSHIP ELEVATING THE EVENT’S  LEGACY ~ INN Nigeria ☆

The grand finale of the 33rd Ikorodu Oga Day celebration took place on November 16, 2024, at the Ayangbure’s Palace, marking a memorable conclusion to this year’s festivities.

The event, which drew a diverse gathering of dignitaries and community members, highlighted the unity and cultural pride within the Ikorodu Division.

His Excellency Dr. Kadiri Obafemi Hamzat, Deputy Governor of Lagos State, was in attendance, serving as chairman of the occasion.

His distinguished role elevated the celebration, adding an air of honour and prestige that resonated with all attendees.

The grand finale reflected the Lagos State Government’s dedication to community engagement and development in the Ikorodu Division, as demonstrated by his presence.

According to Dr. Nurudeen Yekinni Agbaje, Special Adviser to the Lagos State Governor on Rural Development, Dr. Hamzat’s active involvement infused the occasion with a unique sense of dignity and pride, showcasing the state government’s enduring commitment to the growth and unity of Ikorodu Division.

“In recognition of his impact, His Excellency Dr. Hamzat was honoured with the prestigious Ikorodu Oga Award, presented by His Royal Majesty, Oba Kabiru Adewale Shotobi, the Ayangbure of Ikorodu Kingdom,” Dr. Agbaje remarked.

“This award is a fitting acknowledgement of Dr. Hamzat’s dedication to community advancement symbolizes the Lagos State Government’s unwavering support for the Ikorodu region under the dynamic leadership of Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu”

Dr. Agbaje also celebrated the exceptional contributions of Odofin Adewunmi Ogunsanya, SAN, who was honoured with the IKODASS Lifetime Community Outstanding Performance Award.

“This accolade highlights Odofin Ogunsanya’s sustained commitment to community development and his invaluable support across various sectors, which have greatly contributed to Ikorodu’s progress”.

Adding traditional grandeur to the event, esteemed royal fathers graced the celebration, including HRM Oba Kabiru Adewale Shotobi, the Ayangbure of Ikorodu Kingdom; HRM Oba Semiudeen Orimadegun Kasali, the Adeboruwa of Igbogbo Kingdom; HRM Oba Mudashiru Ajibade Bakare Agoro, the Ranodu of Imota; and HRM Oba Olukayode David Raji, the Eweye of Isiwu.

The royal presence emphasized the cultural significance and legacy of Ikorodu Oga Day, an annual celebration highly regarded for its reflection of heritage and unity within the Ikorodu Division.

Numerous other dignitaries graced the occasion with their support, including Rep. Babajimi Benson, MHR; Mr. Bolaji Kayode Roberts, Honourable Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs; Hon. Afolabi Tajudeen, Special Adviser to the Governor on Political and Civic Engagement; and Hon. Gbolahan Ogunleye, representing Ikorodu Constituency 1 at the Lagos State House of Assembly.

Additional attendees included Dr. Saheed Ibikunle, representing Distinguished Senator Mukhail Abiru of Lagos East Senatorial District; Aarebirin Hon. Princess Folashade Olabanji-Oba, Vice-Chairman of Ikorodu Local Government; Bldr Sesan Daini, Executive Chairman of Igbogbo Baiyeku LCDA; and Mr. Rotimi Erogbogbo, Chairman of the Ikorodu Oga Development Association (IKODASS).

Dr. Agbaje concluded, “The combined support from them, alongside contributions from other stakeholders, associations, and honoured guests, was vital in ensuring the event’s success, demonstrating their shared commitment to Ikorodu’s continued development.”
