LASG ISSUES END-OF-YEAR SAFETY ALERT, URGES RESIDENTS TO STAY VIGILANT AGAINST FIRE HAZARDS AND HEALTH RISKS ~ INN Nigeria ☆

The Lagos State Government (LASG), through the Director General of the Safety Commission, Mr. Lanre Mojola, has issued a critical safety alert to residents, urging them to adopt enhanced safety measures as the year draws to a close.

The call to action, prompted by rising concerns over the hot, dry seasonal weather, comes with a strong appeal for all Lagosians to prioritize health and safety above all else.

Speaking to journalists over the weekend, Mr. Mojola emphasized the importance of individual responsibility in ensuring public safety, particularly given the region’s current extreme weather conditions.

“Once there is life, there is hope for a better tomorrow. We can only hope for the best,” he stated, underscoring the need for vigilance and proactive measures to prevent avoidable accidents and health issues.

Highlighting the adverse effects of the dry weather, Mr. Mojola noted that excessive heat could lead to fatigue, high fever, blurred vision, and dehydration, all of which pose significant health risks.

He advised that residents stay hydrated, avoid prolonged exposure to the sun, and take steps to stay cool, especially during the hottest parts of the day.

In addition to health precautions, Mr. Mojola issued a specific warning against fire hazards, stressing the importance of fire safety in homes, workplaces, and public spaces.

He advised residents to avoid smoking in public areas, refrain from storing flammable substances, such as fuel, within residential areas or commercial outlets, and be cautious with any activity that could spark a fire.

“Our collective safety relies on these small but crucial actions,” Mr. Mojola added.

He further appealed to the public to support LASG’s efforts by staying vigilant and making conscious choices that safeguard both personal and community safety.

The Director General encouraged Lagosians to access additional safety guidelines on the Commission’s official website, http://www.lasgsafetyreg.com, which provides a range of recommendations to prevent fire outbreaks and other hazardous incidents.

“As a community, we can create a safer and healthier environment by following these essential safety protocols. Let us work together to make this year-end safe for all,” he concluded.
