LAGOS STATE OFFICE OF RURAL DEVELOPMENT HOSTS HEALTH WALK AHEAD OF 2024 ANNUAL COMMUNITY DAY CELEBRATION ~ INN Nigeria ☆

The Office of Rural Development in Lagos State, under the leadership of Dr. Nurudeen Yekinni Agbaje, Special Adviser on Rural Development, today hosted a Health Walk Exercise as part of the activities marking the 2024 Annual Community Day Celebration.

The event, which took place in Lagos, saw active participation from community leaders, government officials, and residents, aiming to promote physical well-being and strengthen community bonds.

Dr. Agbaje, joined by Mrs. Kikelomo Bolarinwa, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, and Alhaji Azeez Amusat, Chairman of the Lagos State Community Development Advisory Council, led the health walk, emphasizing the importance of regular exercise for maintaining a healthy lifestyle.

The initiative also underscored the government’s commitment to fostering community engagement and social interaction.

Addressing participants at the event, Dr. Agbaje highlighted the objectives of the Health Walk, noting that it aligns with the broader goals of the Annual Community Day Celebration.

“This exercise is not just about physical activity; it’s about unity, health awareness, and building stronger communities,” he said.

Mrs. Bolarinwa echoed these sentiments, urging participants to incorporate healthy practices into their daily routines.

“The health of our citizens is pivotal to the development of our communities. Activities like this demonstrate our collective responsibility to prioritize well-being,” she remarked.

The Health Walk Exercise is one of several events planned for the 2024 Annual Community Day Celebration, scheduled to culminate on Thursday, November 21, 2024, at the Police College Parade Ground, GRA, Ikeja, Lagos State.

The celebration will bring together community development associations, stakeholders, and residents to reflect on and celebrate grassroots achievements.

Alhaji Amusat, in his remarks, praised the initiative, emphasizing its role in fostering a sense of togetherness among Lagosians. “Events like this remind us of the power of community in achieving shared goals,” he stated.

The Annual Community Day Celebration remains a key highlight in the state’s calendar, focusing on empowering communities and showcasing the achievements of grassroots development efforts.
