Ikorodu, Lagos State – During the Budget Stakeholders’ Meeting held at the Ikorodu Local Government Secretariat Hall on November 19, 2024, the Executive Chairman of Ikorodu Local Government, Hon Wasiu Adesina delivered an address titled “The Road Ahead: Our Vision for 2025.”
Adesina outlined a strategic blueprint aimed at consolidating the council’s achievements and driving sustainable development across the area.
Speaking at a stakeholder forum attended by religious leaders, traditional authorities, business representatives, and community leaders, the Chairman reaffirmed a commitment to inclusive governance and community-driven progress.
In his speech, the Chairman emphasized the administration’s dedication to infrastructure development.
He announced plans to prioritize road construction and rehabilitation, enhanced healthcare facilities, improved schools, and expanded access to potable water.
These projects, he noted, aim to address critical needs and improve the quality of life for residents in all communities within the local government.
Recognizing the need for community involvement, the Chairman called on residents to take ownership of public infrastructure.
“We urge every community member to ensure these projects are maintained and secured for future generations. This is a collective responsibility,” he stated.
The Chairman stressed the importance of financial contributions through the timely payment of taxes and levies.
“Payment of taxes and levies is essential for us to achieve more. The success of our administration depends on the collaboration of all stakeholders,” he said.
He also highlighted the critical role of partnerships with traditional rulers, religious leaders, and business communities in shaping the local government’s development agenda.
The forum served as a platform to gather input for the council’s budget planning, ensuring that governance aligns with the collective interests of Ikorodu’s diverse population.
The Chairman pledged to uphold the values of transparency and accountability in governance.
He assured stakeholders of his administration’s determination to foster inclusive governance, instil a sense of belonging among citizens, and create a vibrant and prosperous Ikorodu.
“In 2025, our goal remains to achieve excellence across Ikorodu Local Government. Together, we can make this vision a reality,” he concluded, ending his address with a promise to leave the council better than he met it.
