
As part of its 50th-anniversary celebrations, Ikorodu Club officially handed over a borehole and water system to Aga Primary School on November 20, 2024.
The commissioning ceremony was held within the school premises, marking a significant milestone in addressing the school’s need for clean water and promoting a conducive learning environment.
The occasion emphasized the fruitful partnership between Ikorodu Club, Aga Primary School, and the community, showcasing the lasting benefits of collective efforts in improving education and promoting child welfare.
Alhaji Lamidi Oreagba, the President of Ikorodu Club, recalled in his opening remarks that a needs assessment conducted by the club in June 2024 identified the absence of a water system at Aga Primary School as a pressing challenge.

Recognizing the importance of clean water to the students’ academic and personal development, the club decided in July to install a borehole and provide a functional water system for the school.
He noted that the project was a collaborative effort spearheaded by the 50th-anniversary organizing committee.
Speaking at the event, Mr. Adekoya Olawale Sherrif, representing the State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) in Ikorodu, commended Ikorodu Club for its impactful support.

He emphasized the critical role clean water plays in enhancing academic performance, promoting hygiene, and cultivating healthy habits among children.
He delivered a message from the Local Government Education Authority (LGEA) Chairman, Hon. Afolabi Amusa, who praised the club’s investment in the children’s future as invaluable and deeply appreciated.
The Head Teacher of Aga Primary School, Mrs. Fadiorah A.B. expressed profound gratitude to Ikorodu Club, describing the day as a milestone in the school’s journey toward improved health and access to clean water.

She urged the school administrators to prioritize the maintenance of the project to ensure its longevity for the benefit of the students.
Students of Aga Primary School added a special touch to the ceremony with a captivating presentation themed “Education is Essential, and Water is Life,” highlighting the significance of the club’s contribution.
They also performed a heartfelt song titled “You Are Special” to appreciate the club’s efforts.
The Chairman of the School-Based Management Committee (SBMC), Alhaji Lamidi Folorunso, applauded Ikorodu Club for its generosity.

He announced that the Chairman of Ikorodu Local Government, Hon. Wasiu Adesina has pledged to support the borehole project by providing electricity to ensure a consistent water supply.
Engr. Ali Adesola, the Parents’ Forum Chairman, also expressed his gratitude to Ikorodu Club for its unwavering support of education and the welfare of students.
In a symbolic gesture, Mr. Odeyemi Akinola, Chairman of the 50th Anniversary Organizing Committee, officially handed over the project by cutting the ribbon.
The event concluded with the presentation of an official letter of appreciation from the Aga community to Ikorodu Club.

Mrs. Odenike H.I., representing SUBEB at the Local Government Education Authority, also attended, demonstrating the importance of the initiative in fostering educational development.
