IGBOGBO DAY 2024: COMMUNITY UNITED FOR 36TH ANNUAL CELEBRATION & FOUNDATION-LAYING OF ULTRA MODERN TOWN HALL ~ INN Nigeria ☆

The Igbogbo region in Lagos State kicked off its 36th annual Igbogbo Day with a week-long series of events starting on November 23, 2024.

This year’s celebration, themed “Tiwa n Tiwa” (Our Heritage), highlighted the region’s commitment to unity and development.

The festivities commenced with a press conference and the historic foundation-laying ceremony for the Igbogbo Ultra Modern Town Hall at its permanent site along Offin/Oreta Road.

The town hall, envisioned to become a central hub for cultural, social, and economic activities, represented a significant milestone in the community’s developmental aspirations.

Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Nosiru Titilope Andu-Balogun, Chairman of the Igbogbo Day Planning Committee, expressed gratitude to the community’s leaders and members for their unwavering support.

He noted, “This event was conceived as a platform to unite the Igbogbo people and drive meaningful development.”

“Today, we are not just celebrating our heritage but also laying the foundation for a legacy with the commencement of this Ultra Modern Town Hall.”

He acknowledged the instrumental roles played by His Royal Majesty, Oba Semiudeen Orimadegun Kasali, the Adeboruwa of Igbogbo, Bldr Olusesan Daini, the Executive Chairman of Igbogbo-Baiyeku LCDA; and Asiwaju Olorunfunmi Bashorun

Mr. Nosiru also emphasized the importance of collaboration, urging residents to sustain the spirit of unity that had defined Igbogbo Day since its inception in 1988.

Mr. Idris Adesina, Secretary of the Igbogbo Day Committee, outlined an extensive program for the celebration, which included:

Thursday, November 21, 2024: Iwure Day at Adeboruwa Palace; Friday, November 22, 2024: Jumat Service, Final Basketball Competition, and Public Service Day; Saturday, November 23, 2024: Press Conference and Foundation-Laying Ceremony of the Igbogbo Ultra Modern Town Hall.

Sunday, November 24, 2024: Induction into Igbogbo Hall of Fame (Season 3), Luncheon with the Adeboruwa of Igbogbo Kingdom, and Presentation of Awards of Excellence; Monday, November 25, 2024: Education Programs Finals, including Quiz and Debate Competitions; Tuesday, November 26, 2024: Cultural Day featuring traditional dances, games, and displays.

Wednesday, November 27, 2024: Health Awareness Day and Adeboruwa Football Competition Final; Thursday, November 28, 2024: Oloja Ambassador Day, Community Development Day, Artist Day, and Legal Clinic; Saturday, November 30, 2024: Grand Finale and Sunday, December 1, 2024: Christian Thanksgiving Service

His Royal Majesty, Oba Semiudeen Orimadegun Kasali, the Adeboruwa of Igbogbo Kingdom, described the foundation-laying ceremony for the Ultra Modern Town Hall as a “dream come true.”

He emphasized that upon completion, the facility would enhance civic engagement, cultural preservation, and economic opportunities.

“As the 36th Igbogbo Day unfolded, the event not only celebrated the community’s heritage but also set the stage for sustainable development,” Oba Kasali stated.

Residents and dignitaries from across Ikorodu Division actively participated, making the event a vibrant showcase of culture, unity, and progress.

Mr. Nosiru concluded by encouraging the community to remain united.

“Our collective efforts are what keep the vision alive. Together, we will ensure that the legacy of unity and progress endures,” he said.

The 2024 Igbogbo Day Celebrations demonstrated the resilience and shared commitment of the Igbogbo people to honour their heritage and build a brighter future.
