LAGOS RURAL ELECTRIFICATION INITIATIVE REACHES MORE IKORODU COMMUNITIES WITH TRANSFORMER DISTRIBUTION ~ INN Nigeria ☆

On Monday, November 25, 2024, the Lagos State Rural Electrification Initiative made a significant impact across Ikorodu Division as high-powered transformers were distributed to communities in Igbogbo-Baiyeku LCDA, Ikorodu West LCDA, and Ikorodu Central.

The move aims to enhance steady power supply and promote grassroots development.

The distribution, which ran until the late hours of the day, was met with immense appreciation from community leaders and residents who have long clamoured for effective electricity solutions.

They lauded the Lagos State Government for delivering the dividends of democracy to underserved areas.

Benefiting communities included: Orere Abosan CDA in Igbogbo-Baiyeku; Liberty Progressive CDA in Ipakodo, Ebute; Oba Alade Estate CDA in Ibeshe; New Haven CDA in Igbogbo-Baiyeku; and Ikorodu Club/Oyekunle CDA at Aga in Ikorodu central.

Each CDA Chairman expressed heartfelt gratitude to the Lagos State Government for the timely intervention and their commitment to improving power supply in grassroots communities.

Mr. Sunday Oguntola Ojo of Orere Abosan CDA thanked Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu for bringing such impactful development to the community. “We have waited a long time for this. We deeply appreciate the governor and Dr. Agbaje for their dedication to rural development,” he said.

Alhaji Semiu Ayodele Enifemi of Liberty Progressive CDA praised the initiative, stating, “This transformer is a lifeline for our community. We are grateful to the government and Dr. Agbaje for listening to our cries and acting swiftly to improve our living conditions.”

Mr. Olugbenga Wajero of Oba Alade Estate CDA emphasized the importance of consistent government intervention, saying, “This is a clear example of democracy in action. Thank you to the Lagos State Government and Dr. Agbaje for making this a reality.”

Mr. Olatunbosun Oluwabunmi of New Haven CDA commended the leadership and vision behind the project. “Our community is excited about this development. We extend our gratitude to Governor Sanwo-Olu and Dr. Agbaje for their commitment to bridging the gap between urban and rural areas,” he stated.

Alhaji Shakiru Aluko of Ikorodu Club/Oyekunle CDA highlighted how the transformer would positively impact local businesses. “This initiative is a game-changer for us. On behalf of our CDA, I thank the Lagos State Government and Dr. Agbaje for prioritizing grassroots development,” he remarked.

The initiative, spearheaded by Lagos State Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, is managed through the Office of Rural Development under the leadership of Dr. Nurudeen Yekinni Agbaje, the Special Adviser on Rural Development.

Dr. Agbaje noted that the electrification support scheme, which began in the second quarter of 2024, aims to bridge the infrastructural gap between urban and rural areas across Lagos State.

He emphasized the government’s  commitment to fostering equitable development and improving the quality of life for all Lagosians.

Residents and community leaders expressed optimism that the new transformers would significantly improve power supply, enhance economic activities, and strengthen social well-being in their areas.

“This electrification project exemplifies the Lagos State Government’s dedication to inclusive growth, ensuring that grassroots communities benefit from transformative development initiatives,” Dr Agbaje said.
