In a significant effort to foster self-reliance and community development, Hon. Wasiu Ayodeji Adesina, Chairman of Ikorodu Local Government, presented certificates to 40 women who completed a three-day entrepreneurship training program.
The event took place from December 4 to 6, 2024, at the O’Clean Events Place within the Ikorodu Council Secretariat.
The training, facilitated by Teefrank Nigeria Limited, aimed to equip the participants with essential entrepreneurial skills in various fields, including trading, make-up artistry, facial treatments, and catering.
Speaking at the event, beneficiaries, including Mrs. Bello Omobalanle shared their resolve to relaunch or grow their businesses by applying the skills and insights acquired during the program.
They highlighted the training as a life-changing experience that equipped them to achieve self-reliance and productivity, moving away from dependence on employment opportunities.
Hon. Adesina lauded the efforts of the consultant, Teefrank Nigeria Limited, for the impactful training.
He assured participants that those interested in trading, make-up, and facial treatments would receive further empowerment, while those engaged in catering would be supported to enhance their businesses.
The chairman urged the beneficiaries to remain loyal to the All Progressives Congress (APC), emphasizing that the training was an opportunity to equip themselves and contribute meaningfully to the development of Ikorodu.
“This initiative is not just about certificates but about empowering you to become significant contributors to our community,” Adesina stated.
He further explained that the women were meticulously selected from all seven wards in Ikorodu Central, including representatives from the council’s management team, staff, and market women.
The initiative underscores the commitment of Ikorodu Local Government to empowering women and fostering economic development within the community.
The Leader of the House, Hon. Adebowale Adebola; the Director-General of WADESH Foundation, Comrade Babatunde Akadri Sayleke; the Special Adviser to the Chairman on Women Affairs, Alhaja Rashidat Bello; Professor Olabisi Yusuf; and other council officials joined the chairman in presenting certificates to the beneficiaries.
