SANWO-OLU COMMISSIONS ABIOLA-ONIJEMO LINK ROAD AND BRIDGE, INSPECTS UPGRADED ALAPERE PEDESTRIAN BRIDGE ~ INN Nigeria ☆

Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu officially commissioned the Abiola-Onijemo Link Road and Bridge in the Ifako Ijaiye Local Government Area, marking a significant milestone in the state’s commitment to sustainable infrastructure development on December 9, 2024.

This vital project establishes a crucial connection between the Abiola/Ajayi/Ogba and Obawole/Iju-Ishaga communities.

The newly completed road and bridge boast a reinforced concrete structure with retaining walls, well-paved carriageways, slip roads, and walkways.

Solar-powered streetlights ensure illumination, and a robust drainage system addresses the long-standing flooding issues in the area, safeguarding lives and properties.

In his address during the commissioning, Governor Sanwo-Olu highlighted the transformative potential of the project, stating, “The Abiola-Onijemo Link Road is more than just an infrastructure; it connects lives, fosters unity, and stimulates economic growth. It reflects our administration’s dedication to building a Greater Lagos that works for everyone.”

This project is part of a broader initiative, with 36 newly constructed roads and bridges being commissioned across Lagos this week. Governor Sanwo-Olu underscored the importance of these developments as vital steps towards improving connectivity, easing transportation challenges, and driving economic activities across the state.

Earlier in the day, the Governor also inspected the newly reconstructed Alapere Pedestrian Bridge.

This critical infrastructure, which had previously been damaged by a vehicle transporting heavy-duty materials, has been rebuilt and elevated to ensure durability.

Equipped with CCTV cameras for enhanced security, the bridge now offers a safer passage for pedestrians in the area.

Governor Sanwo-Olu called on the Alapere community to take ownership of the project, emphasizing its significance in fostering collective responsibility. “This bridge belongs to you. I urge everyone to protect and maintain it for future generations,” he said.

Reaffirming his administration’s commitment to ending the year on a high note, the Governor stated, “We promised to deliver numerous projects before the year concludes, and we are delivering. These projects symbolize our readiness and determination to push Lagos forward.”
