The Ikorodu Pioneer Virtual Lions Club demonstrated its unwavering commitment to humanitarian service on Thursday, December 12, 2024, by distributing 780 welfare packages to pupils of Temidire Primary School, Oke-Ota-Ona, Ikorodu.

This initiative, held as part of the club’s annual “Feed the Hungry” project, brought joy to the students as they prepared to conclude the academic year.

The project coincided with the festive season, ensuring that children and their families received vital support during this crucial time.

Each welfare package was carefully curated to meet the basic needs of the children and ease financial burdens on their parents.

The packs included essential items such as water bottles, instant noodles, assorted drinks, sugar, salt, biscuits, notebooks, pens, pencils, tomato paste sachets, and zobo drinks.

According to the club, the selection of items was intended to provide a blend of nutritious snacks, educational materials, and household supplies, reflecting the club’s holistic approach to welfare.

Speaking on the significance of the project, Lion Adeola Rotinwa, a former president of the club, explained, “It is the season of Christmas, and this initiative is our way of spreading joy and sharing the spirit of love. Our goal is to put smiles on the faces of these children and their families.”

Rotinwa emphasized the importance of such programs, noting that they align with the Lions Club’s global mission to address hunger and foster community development.

The event transformed the school premises into a vibrant hub of activity and celebration.

The children enjoyed a host of entertaining activities, including a bouncing castle, cultural dance performances, poem recitations, and music.

The highlight of the day was the appearance of Father Christmas, who delighted the pupils with gifts and festive cheer.

Clowns added to the lively atmosphere, creating unforgettable moments for the children.

Parents, guardians, and community members who attended the event praised the club’s efforts, describing the day as one of joy and unity.

Mrs. Orogbade R.A., the Head Teacher of Temidire Primary School, expressed profound gratitude for the Lions Club’s consistent support.

“This club has always seen our school as a place to give back to the community. Their selfless acts of service have become a beacon of hope for our pupils and their families.”

“We deeply appreciate their commitment to nurturing the next generation,” she stated.

Orogbade also highlighted how the annual “Feed the Hungry” project has positively impacted the lives of countless children over the years.
