The grand finale of the 2024 Isiu Eweye Day Celebration, held on Saturday, December 14, 2024, was a momentous occasion for the Isiu community as His Royal Majesty, Oba Olukayode David Raji (JP), The Eweye of Isiu, officially commissioned a newly constructed 2-kilometer road network.
The development, facilitated by Hon. Babajimi Adegoke Benson, Member of the House of Representatives for Ikorodu Federal Constituency, marked a major milestone in the infrastructural advancement of the area.
The event celebrated both Isiu’s cultural heritage and its journey toward sustainable development, with key contributions from Bldr Adeola Adebisi Banjo, Chairman of Ikorodu North LCDA.
Speaking at the occasion, HRM Oba Olukayode David Raji commended Rep. Babajimi Benson for his intervention in the project and praised Bldr Adeola Banjo for his steadfast commitment to improving Isiu and other areas under Ikorodu North LCDA.
The monarch emphasized the critical role of infrastructure in driving economic growth and enhancing the standard of living for residents.
Bldr Adeola Banjo, accompanied by members of his administration, expressed his pride in the successful road project.
He described the initiative as a product of effective collaboration between traditional institutions and local government leadership.
“This road network is not just an infrastructure; it is a gateway to increased connectivity, economic growth, and improved living conditions for the people of Isiu,” he remarked.
He also applauded the proactive efforts of the Isiu Eweye Development Association (ISEDASS) in championing the community’s progress.
In his vote of thanks, Bldr Adeola Banjo expressed deep gratitude to all stakeholders who contributed to the success of the event.
He reiterated his administration’s commitment to fostering development through partnerships with organizations like ISEDASS and assured the community of continued support for projects that enhance growth and sustainability in Isiu.
Representing Rep. Benson, the Director General of the iCARE Foundation, Mayor Deen Sanwo-Ola extended apologies for the Representative’s absence while reaffirming his dedication to infrastructural development across the Ikorodu Division.
He described the commissioned road as the beginning of broader initiatives aimed at improving connectivity within Isiu and its neighbouring communities.
Adding to the celebratory atmosphere, High Chief Adewunmi Adedeji Ogunsanya, Chairman of Multichoice Nigeria Ltd. and Odofin Erujeje of Ikorodu Division announced a generous donation of ten million naira to support ISEDASS projects.
His gesture was complemented by contributions from Otunba Ganiyu Olusegun Abiru, further reflecting a united commitment to the advancement of Isiu.
The day’s events culminated with a blend of entertainment, cultural displays, and capacity-building activities, highlighting the unity and developmental aspirations of the Isiu people.
