The Executive Chairman of Ikorodu Local Government, Hon. Wasiu Adesina, on January 6, 2025, hosted a prayer and thanksgiving session for his management team and the National Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE) staff.

The event, held at the council secretariat hall, was organized to seek divine guidance and blessings as the council officially commenced its activities for the year 2025.

The interfaith gathering featured worship, praise, and prayer sessions, with inspiring messages delivered by Pastor Femi Gilbert of Daylight Revival Church International, Ikorodu, and Alpha Shakirudeen Akanni of the Iradat Muslim Society.

The event brought together the Christian and Islamic communities within the council to foster unity and shared spiritual growth.

In his address, Hon. Wasiu Adesina described the session as a vital spiritual exercise to start the year on a positive note.

He urged staff to reflect on and apply the teachings shared by the clergymen in their daily activities throughout the year.

“Whatever we’re doing, it’s God who directs us, so it is very important to begin the year with this prayer session,” he remarked.

The Chairman took the opportunity to commend the leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR and Lagos State Governor, Mr Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, highlighting their significant impact on development in Ikorodu.

“We have served Ikorodu very well, and we are proud of the strides of this administration so far. Many inner roads that were long-standing obstacles have been fixed.”

“For instance, those of us who knew how bad Adeniji Road used to be are happy today that it has been completely revamped,” he noted.

Hon. Adesina further listed completed road projects, including Solomade/Adekayaoja Road, Italewa Ajina, Sanni Arowolo, and Dada Street, while revealing plans to commence construction on Eleshin Street (in Ward G) this year.

On staff welfare, the Chairman reassured workers of his  commitment, stating, “Staff allowances have never been delayed, and I want to assure the NULGE Chairman that we will increase it this year. Before I leave office, I also plan to provide a staff bus for easier mobility.”

He also expressed satisfaction with the ongoing construction of the new legislative chamber, emphasizing the importance of diligence and punctuality in the workplace.

“Come to work regularly and on time. Assist the council to ensure we continue to excel,” he urged.

Hon. Adesina commended the dedication of council staff, describing their services as “wonderful.”

The NULGE Chairman of Ikorodu Local Government, Mr. Adebambo Oriyomi Kaseem applauded Hon. Adesina for his exemplary leadership.

“The Chairman has been so diligent, and I urge us all to continue working hard. To whom much is given, much is expected”.

“As he rightly said, he has never delayed our allowances, and I pray that God continues to guide him in all his endeavours,” Kaseem stated.

Mrs. Olunuga Tumuninu, the Acting Council Manager, added to the NULGE Chairman’s remarks by emphasizing the importance of punctuality and regular attendance, urging all staff to remain committed to their duties.
