On January 9, 2025, Dr. Nurudeen Yekinni Agbaje, the Special Adviser to the Lagos State Governor on Rural Development, conducted an official inspection of the Omigo Joint Community Development Association (CDA) at the Omigo community in Isiu, Ikorodu North Local Council Development Area (LCDA).
This visit followed a formal request by the Joint CDA to the Office of Rural Development, highlighting the pressing infrastructural challenges faced by the community.
During the inspection, Mr. Kayode Idowu, representing the Omigo Joint CDA, lamented the community’s dire need for adequate power supply and potable water.
These concerns were evident during the tour, further underscoring the urgency of the community’s appeal.
The Omigo Joint CDA comprises nine member CDAs, including Omigo Central CDA, Onafoyin Omigo CDA, Marvelous CDA, and Agbala Keiji CDA.
Together, they have sought the government’s intervention to address the lack of critical amenities in the area.
In response, Dr. Agbaje assured the community of the Lagos State Government’s commitment to improving rural infrastructure.
He announced plans to provide two high-powered transformers through the Lagos State Government’s Rural Electrification Initiative to address the power supply challenge.
Additionally, the SA pledged to install public boreholes in the community to ensure access to clean water.
The inspection reflects the government’s proactive approach to rural development under the administration of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, emphasizing a collaborative effort to empower underserved communities across Lagos State.
Residents of the Omigo community expressed optimism, hoping that these promised interventions would significantly improve their standard of living.
