
The Tutor-General/Permanent Secretary, Education District II, Mrs. Anike Adekanye, has applauded Kaodwad and Associates for its invaluable contributions to education in the Ikorodu Division of Lagos State.
The commendation came during a recent reception organized to honour winners of the 2024 Ikorodu Division Senior Secondary Schools Debate, hosted at the District Headquarters, Maryland.
Mrs. Adekanye recognized Kaodwad’s partnership with Ikorodu Local Government in driving educational excellence, emphasizing the need for more private organizations and individuals to collaborate with the government to uplift the education sector statewide.
She highlighted the debate competition as a platform that showcased students’ intellectual prowess and teachers’ dedication, while also inspiring students to strive for excellence.
Speaking at the finals of the competition, the Chairman of Ikorodu Local Government, Mr. Wasiu Adeshina, noted that the third edition of the debate aimed to discover hidden talents and build students’ confidence in public speaking.
Elepe Community Senior High School emerged as the winner, represented by Miss Onah Grace and Master Oduwole Temiloluwa. Government College, Ikorodu, secured second place, while Ipakodo Senior Grammar School clinched third position.
At the grand finale held at LASUSTECH Cooperative Event Centre, Lagos State First Lady, Dr. Claudiana Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu, awarded the winning school a cheque of ₦500,000 and a laptop.
Former Deputy Governor Prince Abiodun Ogunleye and the Ayangburen of Ikorodu, Oba Kabiru Adewale Shotobi, presented cheques of ₦300,000 and ₦200,000, along with laptops, to the second and third-place schools, respectively.
Mrs. Adekanye attributed the students’ success to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s THEMES Plus agenda and the support of the Deputy Governor, Dr. Kadiri Obafemi Hamzat, and the Commissioner for Basic Education, Mr. Jamiu Tolani Ali-Balogun.
She also expressed gratitude to stakeholders in Ikorodu Division for their continued contributions to educational development.
