The newly installed Iyaloja-General of Ikorodu Division, Chief (Deaconess) Busola Elizabeth Isikalu, marked her official Iwuye ceremony alongside her birthday on Sunday, January 19, 2025.
The event, which took place at the Ikorodu Musical Village, was a grand celebration attended by royal fathers, government officials, captains of industry, market leaders, and family members.
The ceremony was a unique blend of tradition and celebration, symbolizing the beginning of a new chapter for the markets of Ikorodu Division under Deaconess Isikalu’s leadership.
In her acceptance speech, Deaconess Busola Elizabeth Isikalu pledged to drive economic prosperity for market men and women across the division.
Speaking at her official Iwuye ceremony, which coincided with her birthday, Isikalu expressed her profound gratitude to the royal fathers, market leaders, and government officials for their unwavering support.
She specifically acknowledged the royal fathers: Oba Kabiru Adewale Shotobi (Ayangburen of Ikorodu Kingdom), Oba Ajibade Bakare Agoro (Ranodu of Imota), Oba Abdul-Semiudeen Orimadegun Kasali (Adeboruwa of Igbogbo), Oba Akeem Adeoriyomi Oyebo (Obateru of Egbin Kingdom), Oba Basiru Aremu Sotonwa (Sekumade of Ipakodo).
Oba Richard Abayomi Ogunsanya (Olubeshe of Ibeshe), Oba Olukayode David Raji (Eweye of Isiwu), Oba Ahmed M. Ogunnaike Ogunderu (Alagura of Agura), and Oba Omotayo Fidimolu (Fidimolu of Elepe Kingdom) for their fatherly guidance and encouragement.
She also extended her appreciation to Chief Mrs. Folashade Tinubu-Ojo, the Iyaloja-General of Nigeria for her support.
Chief Isikalu reassured the market men and women of her dedication to their well-being, promising to implement her 7-Point Market Development Agenda diligently.
She further called on government functionaries to provide grants and single-digit interest loans to support market businesses, emphasizing the informal sector’s critical role in sustaining the national economy.
Hon. Wasiu Adeshina, the Executive Chairman of Ikorodu Local Government, congratulated Chief Busola Isikalu and presented her certificate of office.
He expressed gratitude to the Iyaloja-General of Nigeria and the royal fathers for their contributions and wished the newly installed Iyaloja-General success in leading the market community.
The ceremony signified the dawn of a new and promising era for market leadership in Ikorodu Division.
