
The Executive Chairman of Ikorodu Local Government, Hon. Wasiu Adesina, has launched the reconstruction of a 762sqm dual drainage system along the Obun-Ale to Ejina Road in Ward C on the 27th of January 2025.
This landmark project underscores the Chairman’s dedication to infrastructure renewal and preservation of the community’s rich cultural heritage.
The area, located at the heart of the region, is also home to the first central mosque.
At the flag-off event, Hon. Adesina highlighted the critical importance of the area, noting its historical and social significance as the birthplace of prominent figures such as Prince Abiodun Ogunleye, former Deputy Governor of Lagos State, and Oba Kabiru Adewale Shotobi, the Ayangburen of Ikorodu Kingdom.
He appealed to community stakeholders and CDA executives to actively support the project to ensure its timely completion and long-term maintenance.
Council Engineer, Mr. Oladapo Oluseyi, detailed the project’s specifications, explaining that the dual drainage spans 381 meters on each side, with a combined length of 762 meters.
The Leader of the House, Hon. Adebowale Adebola, commended Hon. Adesina’s developmental vision, urging residents to fast-track the project to attract further government attention to the region.
Hon. Olayiwola Aroyewun, representing Ward C, praised the Chairman for his consistency in spearheading transformative initiatives, stating that his leadership sets a solid foundation for future administrations.
Vice Chairman, Aarebirin Hon. Princess Folashade Olabanji-Oba, and Council Manager, Mrs. Enitan Olukoya, lauded Hon. Adesina’s “finishing strong” agenda, describing his administration as a model of accountability and progress.
Community members and the Itunla Connect Group pledged their full cooperation to ensure the smooth execution and sustainability of the project.
Residents expressed their gratitude to Hon. Adesina acknowledges the initiative as a step toward making Ikorodu a model local government in Nigeria.
This reconstruction effort is part of Hon. Adesina’s broader vision to enhance infrastructure while preserving the historical and cultural identity of Ikorodu for future generations.
