
The Lagos State Community Development Advisory Council (LSCDAC) has reiterated its dedication to advancing grassroots development by effectively implementing government policies and programs across various communities in the state.
Speaking at the Council’s 10th Annual General Meeting (AGM), held at the Lagos State City Centre, Sura, Lagos Island East LCDA, LSCDAC Chairman, Alhaji Azeez Amusat, commended the Lagos State Government for recognizing the crucial role of Community Development Associations (CDAs) in governance.
Alhaji Amusat highlighted the numerous community-based projects initiated by Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu’s administration, emphasizing their alignment with the immediate needs of residents.
“We continue to witness significant interventions by the government that directly address the pressing needs of our communities,” he stated.
He also praised the Ministry of Local Government and Community Affairs for organizing regular leadership training and engagement programs for community leaders, further strengthening the collaboration between the government and the grassroots.
Representing the Special Adviser on Rural Development, Dr. Nurudeen Yekinni Agbaje, the Director of Community Development, Mrs. Toyin Adeniji, encouraged Council members to maintain unity and actively disseminate government programs at the grassroots level.
Dr. Agbaje also emphasized the necessity for community members to take full ownership of public projects in their areas, ensuring their protection and sustainability.
“Community-driven development thrives when residents take responsibility for government projects in their neighborhoods. These initiatives must be preserved and utilized effectively,” he urged.
The AGM served as a platform for stakeholders to strategize on enhancing community engagement and reinforcing the government’s commitment to fostering sustainable development at the grassroots level.
