Themed “Complete Praise”, with the topic “Praise The Almighty” drawn from Psalms 103:1, the event attracted dignitaries such as APC party leaders, councillors, the Leader of the Legislative Chamber, Hon. Adebowale Adebola, and the Secretary of the Local Government, Alhaji Lateef Afini, among others.

The program featured the reading of hymns and scripture passages, culminating in vibrant praise and worship sessions, filling the hall with spiritual fervour, and a deep sense of gratitude to God

The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) Chairman, Ikorodu Chapter, Catholic Catechist Joseph Kolawole Ojuolape, commended the local government for placing God at the centre of its affairs.

“It is a great thing for any government to recognize the role of God in leadership. Thanksgiving should never be overlooked, as it is the right approach to seeking divine favour,” he stated.

Similarly, former CAN Chairman, Evangelist Emmanuel Adegoke urged the chairman and his wife to remain steadfast in their faith, emphasizing that greater responsibilities await them.

He also encouraged residents to remain hopeful despite economic challenges, assuring them that God’s grace would see them through difficult times.

During his address, Hon. Wasiu Adesina emphasized the significance of thanksgiving in leadership, highlighting that divine intervention has been instrumental in the successes recorded under his administration.

“This annual thanksgiving is not just a tradition; it is an altar of appreciation, a reminder that governance is not solely about policies and projects but about divine wisdom and favour.

“We have witnessed God’s hand at work in our administration—bringing development, peace, and stability to Ikorodu Local Government. We return to give Him thanks because we acknowledge that without His guidance, our efforts would be in vain.”

The chairman further reiterated his administration’s commitment to building a community rooted in faith, peace, and prosperity.

While acknowledging the challenges facing the local government, he expressed confidence that God’s direction would continue to guide them toward greater accomplishments.

“We are not blind to the difficulties people are facing—economic hardship, insecurity, and infrastructural deficits—but with faith, hard work, and a commitment to service, we will continue to make meaningful impacts. Today’s service is an opportunity to seek renewed strength as we press forward in fulfilling our mandate to the people.”

Speaking at the event, Mrs. Abolanle Adesina emphasized that thanksgiving is a way of life and a reflection of God’s sovereignty over all things.

She noted that their administration had experienced both challenges and triumphs, yet through it all, God had remained faithful.

In alignment with the spirit of gratitude and communal love, Mrs. Adesina announced cash gifts for widows, single mothers, and the elderly, recognizing their struggles with financial hardship, health issues, and neglect.

“This is not just a gesture of generosity but a demonstration of our deep respect for their sacrifices. We pray that God continues to grant them good health, peace, and abundant joy.”

Pastor Femi Gilbert led the final prayers, seeking God’s continuous presence over the council throughout 2025.

He specifically prayed for the chairman, his wife, and all government officials, asking that they experience divine wisdom and favour in their leadership roles.

As part of the event, cash prizes were distributed to 40 beneficiaries, aimed at alleviating financial burdens and supporting families in need.

Additionally, Mrs. Abolanle Adesina presented her annual Thanksgiving seed offering to Pastor Femi Gilbert, fulfilling a vow she made to honour God annually.
