GREENHOUSE TRIUMPHS AT 3RD SOHABA SCHOOL INTER-HOUSE SPORTS COMPETITION ~ INN Nigeria ☆

Excitement, energy, and enthusiasm filled the air as Sohaba School Greche Nursery & Primary successfully hosted its 3rd Annual Inter-House Sports Competition on the 15th of February 2025, at Ginti Field, Ginti Bus-Stop, Ijede Road, Ikorodu.

The event, which drew a large turnout of pupils, parents, and school officials, highlighted the school’s commitment to promoting sportsmanship, teamwork, and physical development alongside academics.

The competition featured a variety of engaging sports activities, including: Match Pass – A colorful parade of competing houses; Relay Races – Showcasing speed, endurance, and coordination; Table Tennis Matches – A test of agility and reflexes; Egg-on-the-Spoon Race – A fun challenge testing balance and focus; Long Jump, Tug of War, and Other Fun Events

The competitive spirit was on full display as pupils gave their best efforts in every contest, cheered on by enthusiastic parents and teachers.

At the climax of the competition, the overall results were announced: Greenhouse – 1st Place Champions, demonstrating outstanding performances across multiple sports; Bluehouse – 2nd Position, putting up a strong fight with remarkable athleticism; Purplehouse – 3rd Place, showing great determination and sportsmanship; and Orangehouse – 4th Place, making an impressive impact in various events.

The Greenhouse team, led by its coordinator Mrs. Durosimi Olayinka, celebrated their well-earned victory with jubilation, chanting their house slogan in excitement.

One of the most anticipated highlights of the event was the football match between pupils and parents.

In a thrilling showdown, the students’ team secured a decisive 3-0 victory, showcasing superior coordination, technical skills, and teamwork. The match had parents cheering from the sidelines, with many impressed by the pupils’ impressive display of football prowess.

Speaking to Ikorodu News Network (INN), Mrs. Ayinde Risikat, Proprietress of Sohaba School, expressed her pride in the successful event, emphasizing the importance of extracurricular activities in child development.

“Education is not just about reading and studying all day; it also involves extracurricular activities to raise well-rounded children. The games promoted teamwork and cooperation among peers, allowing students to socialize more,” she said.

She also pointed out that events like this foster a stronger bond between the school and parents, creating a supportive learning environment for the pupils.

Mrs. Durosimi Olayinka, Greenhouse Coordinator, praised the students’ dedication, attributing their victory to diligent preparation and teamwork.

“The children trained hard, and today’s result speaks for itself. This competition is not just about winning; it’s about learning, growing, and building character. I encourage parents to continue supporting their children’s sporting interests,” she stated.

Similarly, Mr. Billiamin Ayinde, Proprietor of Sohaba School, assured parents that the school will continue expanding its sports programs to identify and nurture young talents.

“We are committed to creating more sporting opportunities for our pupils. Sports are a crucial part of early childhood development, helping to instill discipline, resilience, and teamwork. Seeing their enthusiasm and impressive performances today gives us confidence that we are on the right path,” he remarked.

The 3rd Annual Sohaba School Inter-House Sports Competition was not just a contest but a celebration of sportsmanship, resilience, and camaraderie.

The event ended with a grand presentation of trophies, medals, and certificates to outstanding participants and the winning teams, while parents and pupils expressed excitement for the next edition.
