On February 15, 2025, Rep. Babajimi Benson, the federal lawmaker representing Ikorodu Federal Constituency, spearheaded a dual-front drive for development in Ikorodu Division, marking the day with dynamic initiatives.
Earlier, he convened his first town hall meeting of the year, uniting stakeholders from across the division at his constituency office, before proceeding to inaugurate the Erikorodo-Odogunyan Link Road in Ikorodu North LCDA.
The town hall brought together representatives from the One LGA and Five LCDAs—Ikorodu Central, Ikorodu West, Ikorodu North, Ijede, Imota, and Igbogbo-Baiyeku—offering a platform for community members, traditional rulers, youth representatives, and political figures to discuss local challenges and opportunities.

During the interactive session, Benson reassured his constituents that Nigeria would witness significant democratic dividends in the second quarter of 2025.
“The President is not relenting; he is committed to bringing smiles to our faces,” he declared, emphasizing President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s dedication to good governance.
He expressed gratitude for the unwavering support of the people of Ikorodu Division and reaffirmed his commitment to addressing their concerns through sustained infrastructural, economic, and social development.
The session set a tone of inclusive governance, leaving residents hopeful and confident in his leadership.
Following the town hall, the focus shifted to tangible infrastructural improvements.
In a significant move to enhance road networks, Benson officially commissioned the Erikodo-Odogunyan Link Road in Ikorodu North LCDA.
The commissioning ceremony underscored his dedication to community development. Adding to the day’s achievements, the newly rehabilitated Lucky Fibre Road—facilitated through his intervention—was officially inaugurated by Oba Olukayode Raji, the Eweye of Isiwu Kingdom.

Builder Adeola Banjo, Executive Chairman of Ikorodu North LCDA, lauded Benson’s track record in infrastructural development, citing projects like Lambo Lasunwon Road, Eyita Roads, Agala, and the Lucky Fibre Road as crucial for boosting economic activities, easing transportation, and improving residents’ quality of life.
Emphasizing electoral participation, Benson set a target of 300,000 votes for the next election, stating, “The government is doing a lot, but we need more in Ikorodu. To achieve that, we must ensure our voices are heard by delivering the highest number of votes.”
He outlined upcoming projects, highlighted federal efforts to stabilize the economy, and discussed a new tax bill aimed at easing financial burdens.
Hon. Gbolahan Ogunleye emphasized how improved road networks spur economic growth, referencing President Tinubu’s initiatives in promoting farming.
Senator Adeseye Ogunlewe stressed the importance of increased voter turnout, noting that out of over 300,000 eligible voters, only about 70,000 currently participate.
Asiwaju Olorunfunmi Basorun echoed this sentiment, urging the community to target over 200,000 votes.
A heartfelt praise song by Hon. Aro Moshood further honoured Benson’s dedication.
Additionally, Special Adviser Dr Nurudeen Yekinni Agbaje highlighted Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s initiatives, such as distributing 15 free transformers with installation and planning upcoming water projects, underscoring a broader commitment to community welfare.
CDC Chairman Prince Adeniran Ogunbanwo expressed gratitude for the day’s achievements, thanked the Eweye of Isiwu Kingdom, and reminded Rep. Benson of the forthcoming second phase of the road project while offering prayers for his continued success.
Together, the town hall meeting and road commissioning reflect Rep. Babajimi Benson’s comprehensive approach to community development.
