The Lagos State Government has commenced the implementation of the Ounje Eko Farmers’ Subsidy Programme.
This initiative, spearheaded by Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, is designed to provide a 25% subsidy on the cost of poultry and fish feeds, as well as mechanization services.
Additionally, farmers will receive bags of fertilizers to improve soil productivity and boost yields.
The Ounje Eko Farmers’ Subsidy Programme is part of Governor Sanwo-Olu’s broader agricultural reform aimed at reviving the livestock and aquaculture value chains in Lagos State.
By reducing the cost of essential farm inputs, the initiative seeks to boost domestic food sufficiency, increase local food production, and reduce reliance on external food sources.
The intervention is expected to provide relief to farmers facing rising production costs while encouraging more investment in poultry, fisheries, and mechanized farming.
This aligns with the administration’s commitment to enhancing food security and economic empowerment through agricultural sustainability.
With the rollout of this subsidy program, Lagos farmers are set to benefit from reduced production costs, increased yields, and improved profitability, ultimately contributing to the state’s food security and economic growth.
