The Special Adviser to the Lagos State Governor on Rural Development, Dr. Nurudeen Yekinni Agbaje has reaffirmed the government’s commitment to improving electricity supply in rural areas through the distribution of more transformers across the state.

Dr. Agbaje disclosed this while emphasizing the state’s proactive efforts in advancing rural electrification under the Lagos Rural Electrification Initiative, a project spearheaded by Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu through the Office of Rural Development.

According to him, the initiative is designed to bridge the power supply gap in underserved communities, ensuring that rural dwellers benefit from stable and efficient electricity infrastructure to enhance their socioeconomic activities.

He further explained that the transformer distribution exercise is a key component of the rural electrification agenda, aimed at boosting power reliability, enhancing business productivity, and improving overall living conditions in rural areas of Lagos.

“This administration remains committed to making life easier for our people in rural areas by providing the necessary infrastructure, including access to stable electricity.”

“We understand the importance of power in driving local economies and are determined to bridge the energy gap,” Dr. Agbaje stated.

The Special Adviser assured that the transformer installations will be strategically deployed to communities most in need, following a thorough assessment by the government to ensure equitable distribution and maximum impact.

Dr. Agbaje urged residents of beneficiary communities to take ownership of the infrastructure, ensuring proper maintenance and security of the transformers to sustain uninterrupted electricity supply.

The Lagos Rural Electrification Initiative has been a game-changer in recent years, bringing power solutions to previously underserved areas, thus fostering development in commerce, education, healthcare, and general quality of life.

With this renewed commitment by the Lagos State Government, more rural communities can look forward to improved electricity access, paving the way for further growth and development.
