LAGOS STATE EQUIPS RURAL FARMERS WITH ESSENTIAL AGRICULTURAL IMPLEMENTS ~ INN Nigeria ☆

The Lagos State Government, through its Centre for Rural Development (CERUD), recently handed over a variety of small-scale farming implements to rural farmers across the state to boost agricultural productivity and secure food sufficiency.

Dr. Nurudeen Yekinni Agbaje, the Special Adviser on Rural Development, underscored Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu’s commitment to supporting the agricultural sector.

Speaking at the event, he highlighted that the initiative is part of a broader strategy to foster self-reliance and drive rapid socio-economic transformation in Lagos State.

Dr. Agbaje urged the recipients to make the most of the tools, noting that they were purchased with taxpayers’ money and must therefore be used productively to enhance farm yields.

He also invited feedback from the farming community on additional ways the government could support agricultural ventures and help keep food prices affordable.

Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Local Government, Chieftaincy Affairs and Rural Development, Mrs. Kikelomo Bolarinwa cautioned that the tools should not be sold for immediate financial gain.

She stressed that when used as intended, these tools can act as catalysts for sustainable economic benefits and significantly improve the livelihoods of rural farmers.

The distribution event was attended by other dignitaries including CERUD Director Mr. Musibau Muyiwa Balogun and Head of Public Affairs Mr. Olusola Ajisafe, alongside government officials and farmers from rural communities such as Badagry, Epe, Ikorodu, Ojo, and beyond.

Many of the beneficiaries expressed heartfelt gratitude to the Governor’s administration, pledging to utilize the tools effectively to enhance their farm output and contribute to the state’s long-term food security goals.
