Ikorodu, Lagos – The Chairman of the Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission (LASIEC), Justice Bola Ighile, has expressed confidence in the preparedness of Ikorodu Local Government ahead of the forthcoming Local Government Elections.
Justice Ighile made this remark on the 5th of March 2025, during an official working visit to the Ikorodu Local Government Secretariat, where she led a LASIEC delegation to inspect the facilities and logistical arrangements put in place to ensure a smooth electoral process.
During the visit, the LASIEC team assessed key operational areas, including voter registration centres, polling units, security measures, and administrative support provided by the local government.
Justice Ighile commended the efforts of the council’s leadership, particularly the Executive Chairman, Hon. Wasiu Adesina, for his proactive approach in making resources available for LASIEC operations.
Speaking on the level of preparation observed, Justice Ighile said, “We are really happy that you have what we need. We have seen that you are prepared and more prepared. We thank you, the Chairman, Hon. Wasiu Adesina, and everyone that makes up this Local Government.”
She further emphasized the importance of collaboration between LASIEC and local government authorities in delivering a credible election, stressing that such cooperation enhances electoral transparency and efficiency.
In response, Hon. Adesina reaffirmed his administration’s dedication to ensuring a seamless electoral process.
He assured LASIEC of the council’s unwavering support in providing all necessary logistics and security arrangements to facilitate a free, fair, and peaceful election.
“Over time, Ikorodu Local Government, across its seven wards, has been known for its safe, hitch-free, and credible election process.”
“My administration will not leave any stone unturned to ensure that this legacy is maintained and that every electorate exercises their franchise,” Hon. Adesina stated.
He further highlighted various measures the local government has put in place, including voter sensitization programs, enhanced security coordination with law enforcement agencies, and the provision of necessary infrastructure to support election logistics.
Hon. Adesina assured residents and stakeholders that his administration remains committed to fostering a democratic environment where all eligible voters can participate without fear or intimidation.
