
The Executive Chairman of Ikorodu Local Government, Hon. Wasiu Adesina, on Tuesday, March 18, 2025, presided over the commissioning of a new Eye Clinic at Ita-Elewa Primary Health Centre (PHC) in a significant move to enhance healthcare delivery in Ikorodu.
The Eye Clinic, facilitated by Darren Vision Eye Care Centre, is designed to provide comprehensive eye care services to residents experiencing vision challenges.
Equipped with state-of-the-art eye scanning and diagnostic tools, the clinic aligns with the council’s vision of strengthening the healthcare sector in Ikorodu.
Addressing stakeholders before the commissioning, Hon. Wasiu Adesina announced that the Eye Clinic would be offering free eye tests for the first two days after its launch.
Additionally, the local government has provided 300 free glasses, complementing the 200 glasses donated by Darren Vision Eye Care, making a total of 500 free glasses for residents in need.
“The local government supported the Eye Clinic with 300 glasses to help residents who, after tests, are found to have vision challenges,” Hon. Adesina stated.
He also revealed that Agura Primary Health Centre would soon undergo a major facelift, ensuring that residents in Agura and Gberigbe Axis have better access to quality healthcare services.
To symbolize the services offered at the clinic, Mr. Adeniyi Joseph and Mrs. Bankole Bilikisu Oke were presented with free prescription glasses by Hon. Adesina during the ceremony.
Speaking on the initiative, Mrs. Vivian Ikechukwu, the founder of Darren Vision Eye Care, expressed her enthusiasm for the project, emphasizing that launching an Eye Clinic in Ikorodu had been a long-term goal.
“This Eye Centre is a result of a strategic collaboration between Darren Vision Eye Care and Ikorodu Local Government to bring quality vision care to the good people of Ikorodu,” she stated.
She further appreciated the council chairman for his support, adding that the location of the Eye Clinic at Ita-Elewa PHC would ensure maximum impact for residents.
One of the beneficiaries, Mr. Jimoh Kehinde praised the local government for partnering with private healthcare providers, describing the initiative as “another step in the right direction.”
The commissioning ceremony was attended by local government officials, health practitioners, and community stakeholders, who lauded the project as a major breakthrough in the health sector of Ikorodu Local Government.
With the Eye Clinic now operational, residents of Ikorodu can look forward to accessible and quality eye care services, reinforcing the council’s commitment to improving healthcare infrastructure and well-being in the community.
