Rep. Babajimi Benson, MHR, has disbursed financial grants totaling ₦6 million to 30 Law School students across the Ikorodu Division in a significant move to support young intellectuals.
Each beneficiary received ₦200,000 to ease the financial burden of their academic journey as they prepare to commence their Law School program in April 2025.
The initiative facilitated at Rep. Benson’s Constituency Office on the 21st of March 2025 reflects the federal lawmaker’s commitment to the education and professional development of young scholars in Ikorodu Division.
Speaking before the official presentation, Rep. Benson emphasized that the support aims to reduce financial constraints so that students can fully concentrate on their studies and excel in their legal careers.
“This initiative is meant to provide relief to our future legal practitioners, ensuring that they have the financial backing to focus on their studies and succeed in their profession.”
“Our hope is that these students will, in turn, give back to Ikorodu and help build a stronger legal framework in our communities,” Rep. Benson stated.
Expressing appreciation for the financial aid, Oyewunmi Fasas, a beneficiary from Igbe Lara in Igbogbo-Baiyeku LCDA, described the grant as a timely intervention that will help students cope with their transportation costs and tuition fees.
“The financial support will assist us in handling necessary expenses, making it easier to settle into Law School.”
“Without this, many of us would have struggled to start in April,” Fasas remarked.
Similarly, Ms. Lawal Olaide, another beneficiary from Gberigbe in Ikorodu Central, commended Rep. Benson’s facilitation of the initiative, stating that it has enabled students who might have postponed their Law School program due to financial difficulties to proceed without delay.
“This grant is a huge deal for us. Some students were considering waiting for the next session due to financial constraints, but this support has given us the opportunity to proceed without setbacks.”
“It will help us focus on our studies and come out with flying colours,” she added.
The event saw the attendance of key stakeholders and education advocates in Ikorodu, all of whom applauded Rep. Benson’s dedication to empowering residents through education.
