LIONS CLUB CHAMPIONS CHILD PROTECTION AWARENESS AT JOBADE ACADEMY, IKORODU ~ INN Nigeria ☆

As part of its commitment to child protection and education, the Ikorodu Peculiar Lions Club organized a thought-provoking symposium on March 21, 2025, at Jobade Academy, Marvellous Estate, Parafa, Ikorodu, Lagos.

The initiative aimed to raise awareness about child abuse, equip students with knowledge about their rights, and emphasize the roles of parents, teachers, and guardians in safeguarding children.

The program, which began at 11:30 a.m., was facilitated by Madam Toluwalase Omowunmi, a renowned human rights activist, who passionately addressed critical issues affecting children.

The symposium focused on educating students about sensitive parts of the body, children’s rights against abuse, and the responsibilities of parents, teachers, and guardians in ensuring their safety.

Madam Omowunmi provided detailed explanations and real-life examples, ensuring students understood the importance of self-awareness and speaking up against abuse.

With over 65 senior class students in attendance, the session was interactive and enlightening, allowing students to ask private and critical questions on issues they were curious or concerned about.

The facilitator provided clear and practical answers, further empowering the students with knowledge on how to recognize, prevent, and report cases of abuse.

The symposium was graced by notable Lions Club officials, including: Lion Aluko Kayode NLCF (Service Chairperson); Lion Alapafuja Fuad NLCF (Membership Director); and Lion Akinosho David Peace JP, NLCF (Club Administrator).

Also in attendance were the School Director, Mrs. Adebiyi Ibijoke, along with teachers and guidance counselors, including: Mrs. Akin Lose F.; Mrs. Atinaro G.O.; Mr. Amrophe Robyn; Mrs. Dada R.O.B.; Mr. Adeniyi Solomon; Ms. Elizabeth Igunnu.

Their participation reinforced the importance of continuous education on child protection and the need for collaborative efforts in safeguarding children’s rights.

The event left a lasting impression on the students, many of whom expressed gratitude for the opportunity to learn in a safe and open environment.

The Ikorodu Peculiar Lions Club reaffirmed its commitment to social welfare and youth empowerment, promising to continue organizing similar initiatives to raise awareness and safeguard the future of young individuals.

This impactful symposium stood as yet another testament to the Lions Club’s dedication to serving humanity and fostering a safer community for children.
