LIONS CLUB REPAINTS ZEBRA CROSSING FOR STUDENTS’ SAFETY AT SHAMSIDEEN SCHOOL IN IKORODU ~ INN Nigeria ☆

The Ikorodu Peculiar Lions Club spearheaded a zebra crossing repainting project on April 3, 2025, at Shamsideen Junior & Senior Secondary School, Ikorodu, in a significant move to enhance road safety for students and staff.

The initiative took place behind Alaka Filling Station along Sabo Road bypass, a known high-traffic area.

The freshly repainted zebra crossing, complemented by a club-branded signpost, is aimed at ensuring safer road crossing before, during, and after school hours.

Given the busy nature of the road, this project is expected to reduce the risks of accidents and instill a culture of pedestrian safety among the students.

Key figures in the project included Lion David Akinosho, the Charter President of the Ikorodu Peculiar Lions Club, and Lion Kayode Aluko, the GST Chairperson, along with other dedicated club members who participated in the repainting exercise.

Speaking on the initiative, Lion Akinosho emphasized the club’s commitment to community service, stating that “Ensuring the safety of students is a priority for us. This zebra crossing will serve as a protective measure for schoolchildren and staff navigating the busy road daily.”

Similarly, Lion Aluko highlighted the importance of such interventions, urging motorists to respect pedestrian crossings and drive cautiously around school zones.

The project aligns with the Lions Club International’s commitment to humanitarian service and community development, reinforcing the importance of corporate social responsibility in promoting public safety.

Residents and school authorities expressed appreciation for the initiative, lauding the Lions Club’s dedication to social impact and safety awareness.
