The Executive Chairman of Ikorodu Local Government, Hon. Wasiu Adesina, has affirmed his support for the construction of inner roads within Agura community, while also pledging to support the construction of a brand new palace for the Alagura of Agura Kingdom, HRM Oba Ahmed Moroof Olakunle Ogunnaike, in a renewed display of grassroots commitment.
Hon. Adesina made the declaration during a free eye medical outreach organized at the palace of the Alagura of Agura Kingdom on Wednesday, April 16, 2025.
The outreach offered free eye examinations, treatments, and eyeglasses to residents, underscoring the chairman’s enduring commitment to public health and community development.
With four to five months left in his administration, Hon. Adesina made it clear that Agura remains central to his development agenda.
“As my administration winds up, my plans for Agura are not over yet,” the chairman stated.
“I want to urge the Kabiesi, HRM Oba Ahmed Moroof Ogunaiki, to allocate land so we can begin the process of constructing a befitting, brand new palace for him.”
He also commended Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu for the ongoing Gberigbe Road construction project, which is now being extended to link Agura Road, noting that such intervention is vital for opening up the area.
“The state government is doing a great job with the Gberigbe Road. Once they complete the major links, Ikorodu Local Government will take it up from there by constructing the inner roads to further enhance access and development in Agura,” he affirmed.
Speaking at the event, Alhaji Yusuf Olarewaju, Ikorodu LGA Organising Secretary and Justice Forum Leader in Agura Iponmi Ward, lauded Hon. Adesina’s plans, describing them as timely and visionary.
“Agura Iponmi Ward is the largest in Ikorodu Central. If this trajectory of development continues, this region may eventually gain recognition worthy of its own local government from Mr. Governor,” Alhaji Olarewaju asserted.
Also lending his voice, HRM Oba Moroof Ahmed Ogunnaike, the Alagura of Agura Kingdom, praised Hon. Adesina for his unwavering support and developmental focus on the region.
“We will surely miss Hon. Wasiu Adesina when he leaves office. His leadership has brought progress to Agura, and his presence here today further shows how much he values our community,” the monarch said.
The chairman’s announcement, paired with endorsements from community leaders and traditional authority, reinforces the growing synergy between local governance and grassroots institutions.
With prospects of a new palace and improved infrastructure, Agura Kingdom stands on the brink of transformation, even as Hon. Adesina’s tenure draws to a close.
