GOVT ENGAGES STAKEHOLDERS AHEAD OF 1.3KM EGBEYEMI MONSURU, ALHAJA TAIBAT ROAD CONSTRUCTION PROJECT ~ INN Nigeria ☆

As part of ongoing efforts to enhance rural infrastructure across Lagos State, the government has held a strategic stakeholders’ meeting ahead of the commencement of the 1.3-kilometre construction of Egbeyemi Monsuru Road and Alhaja Taibat Road in Ikorodu central.

The meeting, which took place on Saturday, April 19, 2025, at Winners Estate, was presided over by the Special Adviser to the Lagos State Governor on Rural Development, Dr. Nurudeen Yekinni Agbaje.

It brought together key stakeholders and residents from four Community Development Associations (CDAs), namely: Irebami CDA, Winners Estate CDA, Winners Estate CDA Phase 2, and All Saints CDA.

The highly anticipated project, spearheaded by the Lagos State Government, is scheduled for official flag-off on April 29, 2025.

It aims to improve road connectivity and uplift the standard of living for residents and road users around the Egbeyemi Monsuru and Alhaja Taibat corridors.

Speaking during the meeting, Dr. Agbaje explained that the gathering was organized to sensitize residents ahead of the construction, especially because some houses and shops would be affected by the project.

“This meeting is a critical part of our community engagement process. We understand that the construction may inconvenience a few residents whose buildings are close to the road path.”

“However, this is a developmental initiative that will ultimately benefit the entire area,” Dr. Agbaje noted.

He assured that during the flag-off ceremony, contractors and engineers responsible for undertaking the project would provide clarity on the level of impact on affected properties and further explain the project’s implementation plan.

He called on residents to remain patient and support the project, stressing that the initiative is in the best interest of the community’s future.

Among those in attendance at the meeting were Alhaji Lookman Sonibare, Secretary of the Community Development Committee (CDC) Ikorodu Central; Alhaji Yusuf Olanrewaju, Organizing Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Ikorodu Division; Reverend Oguntunde Johnson, First CDA Secretary and current Auditor; Mr. Lekan Fashina, Vice Chairman of All Saints CDA; and Mr. Fabuluje Olufemi, Chairman of Winners Estate CDA, along with other community leaders.

The meeting ended with a unanimous agreement among stakeholders to cooperate fully with the government and ensure the smooth execution of the project for the benefit of all.
